Riley woke up the next morning wrapped in a pair of strong arms. She had a pounding headache and the light from the sun hurt her eyes. Not ready to get up yet, she closed her eyes again. "Good morning sunshine." That wasn't Mike's voice. She jumped up from the bed, so startled that she didn't even notice the throbbing in her head anymore.

"Miles! What the hell are you doing here and why were we in bed together?" She couldn't remember anything clearly from the night before.

"Riley, calm down and let me explain. We went out together last night. We went to a club."

She held up her hands to stop him. "I remember that part. I didn't really want to go, but once we got there I remember that I started having fun."

Miles laughed. "That's because you started getting drunk. You got into the club because I'm friends witht he main bouncer but how you got that bartender to serve you without and ID, I'll never know." He laughed before he went on. "Anyways, you started drinking. I warned you a few times that you should slow down, but you said that you were a big girl and you could take care of yourself. Eventually, I stopped arguing with you. You drank a lot and got really drunk. When I took you home, you begged me to stay with you. I was going to sleep on the couch. Then, you got sick."

Riley covered her face, which was now red from all of the blushing that she was doing. She was so embarrassed. "Do I even want to hear the rest?" She mumbled into her hands.

He smiled at her and kept talking. "You threw up a few times and I held your hair back for you. You asked me if I would stay in your room with you and I said that I would. I was just trying to help you."

She smiled. He had taken care of her, and had helped her when she needed it. He was a gentlemen and didn't try anything. Then a horrible feeling hit Riley. What if... "Oh my gosh, we didn't do anything did we?" She sounded so afraid and so alarmed that Miles crawled across the bed to wear she was sitting and put her face in his hands.

"Riley, you were wasted last night. I would never ever ever take advantage of you. Besides, if we ever did  anything, I wouldn't want it to be because you were to drunk to make a concious decision. I would also want you to remember it." He kissed her on the middle of her forehead, his gesture remind Riley of the horrible pain in her head.

She leaned in and burried her face into the crook of Miles's neck. "I feel like crap." She mumbled.

He wrapped his arms around her. "I figured you would. You should take some pain killers and I'll make us some breakfast."

Riley didn't even want to think about food, but she knew it would help her. So she reluctantly agreed. Miles got off of the bed and started to leave the room. When he got to the door, Riley stopped him. "Miles." He looked up at her. "Thank you for taking care of me last night."

He smiled. "Anytime." Riley fell back on to her bed and grabbed her phone. She had a text and a missed call from Mike. 'Tried to call. Where are you?' She groaned and tried to decide what to say back. She couldn't exactly tell him that she had gone out to a club, got really drunk, and spent the night with another man.

She simply texted him that she had been spending time with a friend from work and missed his call. Not a total lie. It was a little past nine, so Mike probably wouldn't be up yet. He was a late sleeper and when they spent the night together, Riley was always up several hours before him. Miles popped his head in the door, pulling her from her thoughts. "Did you take anything yet?" She shook her head and he smiled. "That's what I thought." He walked into the room and handed her the pills and a glass of water.

"Thank you. Again." She didn't know what she would do without him there. When he told her that breakfast was ready, she knew that they needed to talk. "Miles, I don't know what to do." Riley felt like a tornado had gone through her head, causing all of her thoughts to spin and be thrown everywhere at once.

"What do you mean?" He asked as he handed her a plate of food.

"I meant that I can't keep doing this. I can't keep lying to Mike. I don't want a marriage based on lies and I'm pretty sure he doesn't either. Before you say anything, please don't think I'm blaming you because I'm not, it's my fault. Not yours. I can't break up with Mike, but I can't cut you out of my life either. It's obvious that we can't just be friends. We have feelings for eachother that go beyond friendzone feelings." A wave of relief and joy washed over Miles's face. He got up and went around to her side of the table.

He leaned in so their foreheads were resting against eachother. "You have no idea how wonderful it is to hear you say that you have feelings for me. I want you so much and it kills me that I can't have you." She pulled away from him, getting out of her chair. This had to stop.

"Miles, we can't do this. This is where the problems start. We can't be that close together. I need to tell Mike what happened and go from there." Miles had a look of pain on his face.

"So you still want to get married? You know, this is my fault. I keep having this rediculous idea that if we spend time together and I kiss you and hold you while you cry and talk to you, that eventually you will realize that you are meant to be with me and call off your wedding. I have tried to push those thoughts out of my mind and be done with this. But we didn't talk for two months and that almost killed me Riley."

She took a deep breath. "I know I really don't want to cut you out of my life either. But really Miles. I'm going to be married woman soon. If we can't be together without acting on those feelings, there are really no other options." She rubbed her eyes, the pounding in her head slowly subsiding.

Miles turned away from her. "You could break up with your boyfriend." he mumbled. He hadn't meant for her to hear him.

"That's enough Miles. I'm getting married in six months. That is going to happen no matter what." She was mad that he was still acting like a child.

"Dont worry, I know how it works by now. Now is where you tell me all about your wonderful fiancé and how madly in love you two are. Then I leave and you cry and blame yourself."

"Well then let's skip straight to the you leaving part." Riley was mad. She was mad that he knew her so well and that he made her laugh and cry and get mad. She hated the affect he had on her.

"Ok fine. I'll leave. But before I go I want to as you something. While you were here throwing up and when you were discussing your past and when you were crying because you were so stressed, where was Mike? Where was your fiancé? Because he wasn't here with you. I was." With that he turned around and left, leaving Riley to cry and blame herself just as he had said she would.

Riley knew what she had to do. She picked up her phone and texted Mike. 'Can you come over? We need to talk.'

Her phone buzzed a minute later. 'On my way.'

Riley took a deep breath. This wasn't going to end well.
