Slowly but surely, Riley's life began to settle down. She spent as much time with Mike as her schedule allowed and they were in the early stages of planning their wedding. She still worked with Miles, but they hadn't said much to eachother since that night at her apartment. Riley was thankful that she didn't have to deal with all of the feelings and emotions that she felt whenever she was with Miles, but she missed him. She missed talking to him and laughing with him. Riley knew that she deserved the silent treatment she was getting from Miles. If someone had treated her the way she treated him, she never would have been friends with them either. They hadn't had an actual coversation since the night they had shared their pasts with eachother. That had been nearly two months ago. Riley had thrown herself into Mike, work, school, and wedding plans, causing the time to pass surprisingly fast. But as she got ready to go to work, Riley knew what she had to do.

She pulled up outside of the nursing home and parked next to that familliar red car. She took a deep breath and went into the building. Riley waited until she was on her lunch break until she went to find Miles. He was sitting by himself at a table eating lunch. She took a couple of breaths to calm herself down before she went over and sat down across from him. Miles looked up at her and shock passed over his face before he looked down again. Riley cleared her throat before she spoke. "No."

He looked at her, confused. "What?" He sounded confused and annoyed.

"I am just answering your question and the answer is no."

Miles sighed. "Riley I don't have time for this. What the hell are you talking about?"

Riley didn't care that he was annoyed or speaking harshly to her. She went on anyway. "Miles, two months ago when we were at my apartment, you asked me if everything that you had said was a joke to me. And since we haven't talked in nearly two months I just want you to know that no. It was not a joke to me. On very glad you told me what you did and even though we ended up fighting, I just want you to know that I don't regret telling you what I did. I've never met anyone who really understands my story like you do. I'm not telling you this because I expect you to stop being angry at me. I would be angry at me too. I just wanted you to know that it wasn't a joke to me and that I miss you." When he didn't say anything or even look up from his lunch, Riley got up to walk down the hall.

She felt a warm hand grab her arm and she felt the fire spread in her arm right away. It was a feeling that she had missed so much. "Wait. Don't leave yet. Do you really mean that? What you said about me understanding you and that you don't have any regrets about what you said?" He was looking into her eyes as if he could see into her soul. Riley simply nodded, unable to speak. Miles rested his forehead

against hers. "Did you really miss me?" His voice was low and his eyes were locked on hers.

"Yes." Riley whispered.

Miles didn't say anything else. He didn't try to kiss her. He just stood there, looking into her eyes. Riley felt a wave of relief wash over her. She wasn't sure, but she thought that they would be able to go back to the

way they were. Whether that was a good thing or a bad thing, she didn't know. They stood embracing eachother for a couple of minutes until Riley was called to the nurses station. "I guess my lunch break is over." She laughed lightly and hugged Miles a little tighter before letting him go. She immedietally felt the cold empty space where he had been. "Bye Miles. I'll talk to you later." Just before she turned around to leave, he grabbed her arm again. Except this time, instead of hugging her, Miles kissed her. Riley was consumed with the heat and fire inside of her body. Whether she would admit it to herself or not, Riley had missed that feeling. She pulled away after a few seconds. "I really should go. " He let go of her that time and let her get back to work.
