~Lauren's POV~
I slowly open my eyes, taking in my blurry surroundings. Once my vision clears, I see a man snapping his fingers in my face. I notice the guy is wearing a monkey mask. Once my hearing opens up, I can hear him asking me if I'm able to hear him. I lightly nod my head and begin to sit up. Only to have the guy hold me down by my shoulders. "Don't do that. You'll hurt yourself even more." he orders. I glare and open my mouth to fight back, when I feel him lift up my arm.
I see my wrist wrapped up, making my mouth close. "There you go. Easy enough. Just stay laying down and don't freak out. Can you tell me what happened?" he asks. "I remember.. I slipped on black ice. I got up, then fell down again.. When I moved off the ice and got up again, I saw headlights. I can't remember anything after that.." I explain to the masked man. He nods, then walks over to a table.
"Here, something to help fill you up for the time being." he says, handing me a bowl. I look at the food, and see ramen inside.I push myself up, grab ahold of the bowl, then take the fork and stuff my face. He chuckles, but I pay no attention to it. As I finish off the last of the noodles, a man in a hockey mask walks in. I suck in a large gulp of air, almost choking on some noodles.
Monkey man starts patting my back, making the noodle come out of the throat. I cough a little, but easily recover from the little attack. I stare at the guy in the hockey mask, wondering where I've seen it before. I see him staring at me as well, so I look away and close my eyes. I rest my head on my legs when I hear another grumble from my stomach. I look up to see if anyone heard, and see them both staring at me.
I look away a bit embarrassed, when I hear more footsteps come inside the little room. I look up and see a guy in a pig mask, as well with someone beside him in an owl mask. I stare at them both. I watch the owl guy walk up to me. "Name." he orders. I cower down a little at his threatening voice, but keep quiet as well. "Name." he orders again. I glare into the big yellow eyes of the mask, only to have him hold a gun to my head. "Simple answer. Just give me your name!" he starts yelling.
"My name is no importance for the likes of you. If you're letting a puny little girl piss you off so badly that you're wanting to kill her, by all means, kill me." I reply, making him think twice about his actions. He sighs, then says "Can you please tell me your name." I think about it, then say "Moon." "Is this a joke? Tell me this is a joke?" he says, looking back at the other 3. "Moon.. moon... moon.." one of the guys mutter. "Moon!" I jump at the sudden yell.
I watch the hockey mask guy walk up to me, then grab my cheeks. "I swear by GOD if you touch me again I will.. I will.." I begin, but mutter the last part. I notice the things in my coat are gone. "You'll what?" he teases. I punch him in the throat, setting him off in a ball of coughs. The pig comes into play and holds my hands behind my back. I struggle under his strength, giving up quickly with how weak I truly am.
"Lauren." the guy says after his fit of coughs. I feel my blood run cold, but I try to play it off. "Moon." I reply with a shaky voice. "Lauren!" he yells, then jumps up and pulls me into a hug. I look around at everyone with wide eyes, wondering who the hell this guy is. I try to push him away, but the pig keeps my hands firm behind my back. "Lauren" he mutters in my hair.
"Okay! I get it! You know my name! Get off me!" I yell at him. He pushes off, then says "Delirious." I let my shoulders slump at the name. Delirious is my brother. AKA, Jonathon. He's my older brother by about 3 years. I remember we lost him when I was 5. Then a month after that, I lost my mom. I come back into the real world and feel a bunch of tears going down my cheeks.
"Are you a stalker or something?! Just get the hell out of here!" I yell at him. He sits on the table next to me and puts his arm over my shoulders. I don't care anymore, I need a shoulder to cry on. I've needed one for a long time. The pig releases my hands slowly, seeing if I try anything. All I do is wrap my arms around the creepy guy's waist.
He pulls me into a tighter hug, and whispers "I'm sorry for leaving you" in my ear. I look up and see his blue eyes, just like mine and my mom's. I smile and jump into his lap, giving him a giant hug. I sigh into his chest, but I eventually let go. I recover from that happy moment to the current one. "So... you know her?" Owl asks, pointing at me. "Yeah. She's my little sister." he says. I smile at the memories of us.
We weren't really that close, but close enough to be upset about losing him. My mom told me he was killed in a fire at his school. "Delirious, what happened? Mom told me you died in the fire..." I mumble, unsure of what to talk about with him. "About that. Vanoss, the guy in the owl mask, we were best friends even back then. I smelled something off, and I tried to tell the teacher. But as you know, I wasn't the best student. So he didn't believe me.
~Delirious' Flashback~
I sit in my desk, casually doodling on my paper. I lift my head to see what the teacher is talking about when I notice a weird smell in the classroom. I raise my hand to get called on, but he just looks over my head. "Yo, Evan. You smell that too right?" I whisper to Evan, who sits right next to me. "Yeah. I thought it was just me." he replies. The teacher looks at us, then says "Mister Dennis and Mister Fong. I believe you two can go sit in the hallway if you wish to talk." the teacher orders.
"Mr. Wesler! There's a weird smell, almost like smoke! I think we need to get out." I tell him. "Jonathon Dennis, I don't want to hear your excuses! Just go sit in the hallway." he orders again. I sink my head down and do as he says. When we step out, we actually see the smoke. "Jon! Let's get out of here." Evan says. I nod and we both start running for the front doors.
As we exit, I see the fire alarm. I hesitate, but pull it down to warn the others. I hear the loud alarm, then the panic of the children. I run out the doors and to Evan who is across the street. He signals to go faster, so I do. Right as I picked up the pace, I trip on a stump and fall flat on my face. I scurry back up, but a small, but loud, explosion happens.
I look behind me, only to have glass cut my eye and cheek. I run over to Evan while covers my eye. "You okay?!" Evan yells over the havoc. I nod, so he nods back and we both run again.
~End of Flashback~
I nod, understanding why he wouldn't want to come home. "You at least could've told me." I whisper to him. His grip around my shoulders tighten, meaning he's done talking about it. I nod once more, and look up at Evan. I smile, so he nods in reply to my silent thanks.
