I walk through the fog, pretending to be a badass. Well, I wish I c...
I make my rounds, telling everyone to pack up the weapons. I run to the knife table and begin to pack them up when Moon comes and takes a knife. "I intend to hit the target at least once before we leave." she says, then throws it. Once more, the clank of metal echos through the field. She turns towards me for another knife, which I hand to her. "Remember, turn to the side for a more comfy position. Only throw with your arm if it's a far away target." I remind her.
She does as told, then flicks her wrist. It hits the outer white ring of the target. "Alright, you hit it. Let's pack up." I joke. She glares at me, making me smile. I forgot I didn't have my mask on. I hand her another, then pull her shoulders for her to step back. I lead her about 8 feet from the target, making her question me. "There's no way I can hit that." she says. "Just throw it like you have been." I order. She sighs, but follows my command.
When she throws it, I watch as it quickly zips through the air, hitting about 4 lines away from the middle. She turns towards me with a shocked smile on her face. I smile back, then walk back to the table. "Me and you can come back tomorrow for more practice. But it's getting late and cold." I tell her. "That's your fault. You gave me your jacket." she mumbles, expecting me not to hear. I smile, but decide not to answer. Jut to let her have her hopes.
"What was that?" I ask, pretending like I didn't hear. "Nothing." she plainly replies. I glance over my shoulder, but see her staring at what I'm doing. I quickly turn around and wrap my arms around her waist. "I asked what you said." I mumble to her. I watch red slowly paint her face, making me smile. She's so cute when I catch her off guard. "And I said nothing." she replies with a slight smile as well.
I lean closer to her and whisper "I didn't think you'd want to be cold" then release her. "Now isn't that sweet of you." she says sarcastically. I shake my head with a slight chuckle, then turn and finish putting the knives away. I put in the last one and zip of the bag, then turn to face Lauren again. As I turn around, I hear "NARNIAAAAAA" and then feel her jump on my back. I laugh, then look around.
I see everyone staring at us, some laughing. I grab her legs and begin walking towards them, with Moon's arms wrapped around my neck. Right as I reach the others, I see small flurries come down from the sky. "Looks like we cleaned up at a good time." I hear Tyler say. I nod in agreement, then hear Lauren whisper "I'm not riding with Del again." I laugh, making the guys look at me like I'm crazy.
I shake my head, then say "Let's go home and warm up. Dav-Dathi needs to make us some dinner." I say, catching myself before I said Dathi's real name. I watch all the guys go back to their cars, then I start heading that way as well. "Let me down.." Moon says quietly. I do as she says, then turn to face her. "You okay?" I ask. She nods, then looks around again. "I just wish I still had my mask." she says, then tries to walk around me.
I grab her wrist and quickly pull her into a hug. "If you want, we can stay and try to find it before sundown." I compromise. "Really?" she asks, looking up at me. I smile and nod. "I'll just call a companion to bring me a car." I say. She smiles, so I smile back. I place my hand on her cheek, then pull her to me. Once our lips touch, I pull back and stand up all the way. I give them the signal to go ahead, them giving a thumbs up in reply.
I watch them all pull out, so I grab Lauren's hand and begin to walk where her mask blew to. She attaches to my arm and follows alongside me. I walk down the hill, going slow so I don't rush Moon. Once we reach the bottom, I see something white hanging on a branch. I pull my arm away and say "I'm gonna climb this tree. I see something." She nods and steps back, so I place my foot firmly on a root. I hoist myself up with a thick branch, then continue up.
Once I reach the branch with the white thing, I reach out to grab it. Once my hand is around it, I feel it's only a plastic bag. I groan, then climb back down. "What was it?" she asks. "A plastic bag. Let's keep looking. We have a bit more sunlight." I tell her, then continue on. She trudges alongside me when she suddenly stops. "I see it!" she exclaims. I look where she's looking, only to see it hanging limply on the powerline.
"Good luck." I say jokingly. She playfully slaps my arm, making me laugh. She giggles too, then runs off. "Hey!" I yell. I watch her run into the factory, then see her come out on the roof. 'How the hell did she get up so quickly?' I ask myself. I watch as she places her foot on the edge of the roof, then puts the other one. Once she catches her balance, she yells out "STAND RIGHT UNDERNEATH THE MASK!" I nod, trusting her, and do as she says.
I watch as she lunges forwards, grabs the mask, then lands in my arms. Only one problem, we both fell. Of course I made sure she landed on top of me. 1. for cushioning, 2. so I could make sure she isn't hurt at all, and lastly, I just wanted to be nice. She lifts her head up with a smile, then shows me the mask. I smile back, then lift my head to connect lips again. (HOLY SHIT! I MADE THEM KISS TWICE IN ONE CHAPTER! HAVE I GONE MAD?! XD)
She kisses back, with just about as much love as I'm putting into it. I pull away, her smiling at me. I smile, then sit myself up, her still in my lap. I pull my phone out of my jacket pocket, then call up an old friend. "Hello?" his voice echos out. I put him on speaker, then reply with "Wassup Nanners. Long time old friend." He chuckles then says "Yeah, it really has been awhile. Whatcha need?" I guess he wants to skip the chit chat.
"I need you to get one of my cars in about 10 minutes. Can you do that?" I ask. I can tell he's thinking since he didn't automatically respond. "I'll send out Mark. Expect him in about 8 minutes." he replies, so I just hum an 'Mhm'. "Later man." Nanners says. "Bye." I reply, then press the hang up button. "We got 8 minutes to spare." I say. She nods, so I lean in again.
