"Ashton, have you seen..." I heard my sisters voice yelling as she pushed my bedroom door open "Lucy?" She continued quietly.
And something in me, I'm not sure what felt like Lucy just being in my arms was so personal. I couldn't help it, it was just how she made me feel.
I just couldn't let anyone else be a part of our moment.
So I did the only thing my brain could think to do.
I pushed her off the bed.
“Ugh!” I heard Lucy groan from me pushing her off the bed, and chuckled to myself at the fact that that was my first reaction.
Like Lucy wasn’t clumsy enough already, she certainly didn’t need me to push her out of my bed.
I propped myself up on my right elbow so I could see her sprawled out on her back, and I couldn’t help it I had to laugh.
Her hair was spread out over the ground like a fan.
“Ashton!” Sammy groaned walking over to Lucy offering her a hand, which Lucy took gratefully
“Ashton what?” I asked, shrugging it off to aid myself.
“What did you do that for?” She practically yelled looking at me sternly, and I had to look down at my left hand as it fiddled with my right.
“I don’t know why are you in here anyways?” I couldn’t help but change the subject.
“I was going to invite Lucy to a girl’s night, but she wasn’t in her room.” She shifted her gaze to Lucy to give her a disapproving look. “Why do all girls have drool over, that.” Sammy looked me up and down, before turning on heels.
“I don’t!” Lucy said standing on her toes and leaning forward.
Ouch.
I stood up coming up behind her as she looked at the door after Sammy. I wrapped my arms around her, feeling her stiffen out of shock, and soon relax into my embrace. Bending my neck whisper in her ear, I couldn’t help but smile “Liar.” I hummed, unwrapping my arms and walking past her and out the door, but not before I heard her grumble something along the lines of jerk face.
I walked down the hall, until I saw the light on in the game room, walking pushing the door open to reveal Mel and John doing card tricks on the poker table. I smiled and leaned against the door frame as I saw them laughing with each other, and just being happy. I wish I could have a twin sometimes. A twin I was as close to as they were, because believe it or not they were best friends, and I can’t help but pray they stay that way. So happy. So happy together.
I cleared my throat as to announce my presence, and pushing the smile off my face. “What are you to doing in here? Didn’t dad tell you guys to stay out of here after what happened last time with the dart board?” I looked at the two with a hard face, but playful eyes. “It’s a shame I’ll have to tell him. I guess that means no more skating for you two anytime soon.”
I couldn’t help but threaten them. I knew how much they wanted to be able to skate like Sammy and I. I guess now Lucy. They’d been begging us to teach them for longer than they can probably remember. They’re actually doing a pretty decent job. They’ve got the basics, I mean by the time they’re teens they’ll be good enough to go pro at the rate they’re going. Well maybe not that good, but they are insanely good for their age.
I watched as they’re faces fell, and I couldn’t help but laugh at how seriously they still took my empty threats like that. Sammy would just shrug it off, however Sammy’s known me longer. As soon as I started laughing their heads snapped up, looking at me with puzzled faces. It seemed to click in a matter of seconds, followed by not so happy looks that I earned from the two, causing me to laugh harder. I was practically on the floor laughing when they finally joined me in my laughter. And things got all the funnier when oh so confused Lucy walked in on our hysterical laughing.
