Chapter 6

Katie's PoV

"So, let's talk about the rules, shall we?" Shawn's mum said

My breath caught in my throat and Shawn turned to look at me. I noticed he went to put his hand on top of mine but he thought for a second then put his hand back on his lap. I shifted in my seat, not wanting to sit beside Shawn. I looked up and saw that everyone was looking over at Shawn and I. Shawn's mum and my mum each had a small smile on their face. They all had probably seen when Shawn was going to place his hand on mine. I blushed and Shawn spoke up.

"So you were saying? The rules?"

"The rules are pretty basic rules really." My mum replied

"1. You're not allowed a divorce.
2. Don't even dare cheat on each other
3. This is a bit of common sense really, but no
going out getting drunk without the other
person there. You never know what could
happen."

My mum listed then stopped when she heard a set of keys outside. Kain then burst through the door and shouted "I HAVE FOOOOD"

He walked into the living room and saw that Shawn and his family was here as well.

"Oh, um sorry about that. I'll be in the kitchen." Kain said, seeming slightly embarrassed which made my dad laugh.

As soon as he went into the kitchen my mum carried on talking about the rules. Ugh.

"And 4. You have to remain abstinent until after the wedding...Okay?" Mum finished and I heard a short muffled laugh come from the kitchen

"What's that?" I asked

"It means no sex until after you're married." Shawn's mum explained

"I'm definitely fine with that one. That's not going to a problem for me at all." I laughed

I looked over at my dad and noticed he was looking at Shawn and I trying to hold back a laugh. I turned to face Shawn and saw that his cheeks were redder than usual because of what I had said.

"Okay so now that we've gone over the rules, who wants some food?" My mum asked and I let out a laugh

Such a great way to change the conversation quickly.

"Who wouldn't want food?" I answered

I quickly got up and ran into the kitchen, everyone still sitting down, looking surprised at how quick I got up.

"KAIN!!" I shouted excitedly as I ran into the kitchen.

I saw him leaning against the counter, a smirk on his face because he knew that I would be the first into the kitchen. He stepped away from the counter and opened his arms wide so I could give him a hug, which I obviously would.

I ran and jumped into his arms and gave him the biggest hug I'd given anyone in a long time. He stumbled backwards a little, holding me in his arms, my legs wrapped around his waist.

"How's my little sister doing?" He chuckled

"Do you really want the answer to that?" I said, my face slightly scrunching up

He thought about it for a second then scrunched his face up to mirror mine.

"You know what? I actually don't." He chuckled again

He put me down and I turned around to see everyone looking at us, while they were getting their food.

What are you all looking at? Can I not hug my favourite brother, who I haven't seen in over two weeks, without being judged? Damn people really know how to piss me off without even talking.

I turned back around for a second, looked at Kain and rolled my eyes. He laughed under his breath and slightly shook his head at me.

I walked over to the table and took a few of the ham sandwiches that were cut up into little triangles. Then I looked around and realised that Aaliyah and Kevin were still upstairs.

"I'm gonna go get Kevin and Aaliyah." I said and fast walked up the stairs, glad to get out of the room, even if it was only for a few minutes.

I walked into Kevin's room and saw Kevin and Aaliyah wrapped up in a blanket together watching a movie.

"Why are you sharing a blanket?" I asked

"Aaliyah was cold."

"And you didn't give her a blanket for herself?"

"I was too lazy to get it." Kevin rolled his eyes and Aaliyah let out a laugh.

"Anywayyy, there's food downstairs if you want it."

I didn't feel like waiting for a reply so I walked back down the stairs. They followed soon after and Kevin went straight to the kitchen table and ate nearly half of the food that was there.

Teenagers I rolled my eyes.

Everyone was talking amongst themselves until my dad spoke up.

"You should start packing soon Katie." He paused to look over at Shawn. "I'm sure Shawn wouldn't mind helping you out."

I was about to reply with a cheeky "No its grand" but Shawn answered before I could say anything.

"I'd be happy to help. Do you want to start now?"
