Since Shawn took up my dad's offer on helping me with packing everything, he said that I have to help Shawn with his stuff when he's packing his things. I didn't want to have to help because that would mean more unnecessary time with him but my dad said I had to.
Right now we were packing the things from my room and I really didn't have the energy for it, but Shawn insisted we pack everything while we had time today. He even said that he would do it all but I couldn't let him do it all by himself.
Shawn's parents and my parents had all gone out after an hour of Shawn and I packing my stuff. Aaliyah said that she'd stay here because she was in the middle of watching a movie with Kevin.
"You're going to need another suitcase, Katie." Shawn said, removing me from my thoughts
"Oh I'll ask Kain to take all his things out of his so I can use it." I replied, standing up from where I was sitting beside my suitcase on the floor.
I walked out of my bedroom and walked to Kain's bedroom, which was right beside mine. I knocked on the door and he came out after a minute, only opening the door slightly.
"Can I have your suitcase?" I asked
"For what?" He asked, seeming flustered
"What do you think? I'm moving out with my fiancé within the week." I answered, rolling my eyes
"Oh, yeah, okay, just stay here." He panicked, closing the door in my face.
"Is Lia in there, Kain?" I shouted through the door, trying not to laugh
"N-no. She's back at our house." He stuttered
"Oh really? Why can't I come in then?"
I put my hand on the handle and nearly opened the door but Kain opened it before I could and pushed the suitcase out the door.
"Here you go. Bye." He slammed the door and I started laughing.
He had always been the nervous and easily embarrassed sibling.
Shawn walked out of my room and looked at me and started laughing too. He must have heard the conversation. I knocked loudly on the door three times to get their attention.
"Hey Lia!! Make sure you two don't fuck so hard that you come through the wall!!" I shouted.
I walked away and into my room past Shawn who was looking at me with wide eyes.
"So, is this suitcase big enough?" I asked, changing the conversation before it even started.
"Um, yeah it's bigger than you need but that's fine." He answered, closing the door behind him.
We both went packing stuff again, I just pulled stuff out of drawers and threw them in the suitcase while Shawn folded everything neatly.
"You're used to doing this, aren't you?"
"Yeah. When you're touring its best to have everything organised." He chuckled
We both said nothing then, just packing stuff in silence when I decided to speak up.
"Hey Shawn?"
"Hey Katie?" He replied and I let out a quiet laugh
"See this whole marriage thing?" I asked and he nodded "I just want you to know I'm not going to hate you for something that isn't your doing. Just don't expect a serious relationship straight away. I don't want to rush into anything."
"Whatever makes you feel comfortable, I'm fine with." He answered which made me smile.
"Thank you for being so mature about this all, Shawn. You're too nice to me."
I felt the need to give him a hug so I jumped up from my bed and wrapped my arms around him. At first he didn't hug back, his arms out wide, probably in shock. Within about ten seconds his arms were wrapped around me in a tight, almost bone crushing, hug.
"I've missed you all these years." He mumbled into the crook of my neck
"I've missed you, too." I whispered back, then lifted my head from his chest. "So how about we start where we left off? As best friends? And then we can work our way up to married couple?"
He smiled down at me and let out a laugh.
"I'd like that."
