I stopped circling him. I stopped right in my tracks to see if he would do anything. He just kept smiling. Big and white.
He looked about my age, not a year older or younger. He was tall; about 5 feet, 9 inches. He had brown hair that framed it face perfectly. He had a quiff that he kept messing with. He beautiful blue eyes that looked like sapphires with pure light shining on top of him. I remembered his name. It was Will. Will. I liked it, his name suited him. You could see him but it was different. It was like the light was shining through him. The light made him look seem happier and more grateful than he already was.
He was dead and he was happy. He was grateful. I was happy but I wasn't grateful. I loved my house but all I wanted way a small house and parents that were there for me. Home for breakfast and dinner. I wanted that more than anything but it would never happen.
It had been silent for at least a few minutes before he appeared. We were scanning each other. Seeing what we could find before we started talking. Both in love with the idea that we were from a different world but lived in the same place.
I broke the silence "Your name is Will?" I asked already knowing it was. He nodded energetically. "It suits you." I said in assurance.
"Thanks." He said again with a big smile.
The wind was the only thing that made a sound for the next few minutes. It was like meeting a new person instead it was a ghost. It started of silent but then you made conversation and in the future, you would be good friends. That's how it went, always. Well based off of what I've read. I've only had a few friends and they were people I rarely talked to because they were children of co-workers of my parents.
He was obviously new at this so I broke the silence again. "Soooo," I said like it sounds. Awkward and uncomfortable. And he said the same thing to me.
"Can we go outside? It's too cold in here for me." This was partially a lie. It was cold in the house but I didn't fancy going outside in the summer but, I felt more comfortable outside like the house wasn't holding on to my words. Which how I felt made more since now that I officially knew there was a ghost in the house.
"Yeah, lead the way!" He said enthusiastically. Will directed me to the door that leads to the hallway. I kindly curtsied, pretending I had a skirt on. And walked down the hall with Will standing next to me, smiling as usual. We walked past the tea room on the way to the grand staircase when Will stopped in front of the door.
He smiled and waved toward the door and for a minute he looked sad. Will turned to me and said, "I'll meet you in a few by the pond."
I smiled and said, "Okay see you in a few."
Walking off towards the pond I felt sad and lonely. Like I just lost someone but, I knew he would be back. He wouldn't abandon like everyone else. I knew that and that felt like home.
