Swara's POV
The next day began like any other, but I couldn't shake the feeling of excitement that lingered in the air. What was it about today? Was I really ready to face Laksh again after all this time? I wasn't sure, but something felt different. I slipped into my black capris and yellow top, letting my hair fall loose with just a hint of makeup. I was ready to face him—ready to move on.
After a quick breakfast, I headed to college.
As I walked towards the canteen, I saw my friends at their usual table.
"Hey, guys!" I greeted them cheerfully.
"Hey, Swtu! How are you today?" Kavya responded with a bright smile.
"I'm doing great! What about you all?" I asked, feeling genuinely good.
Rajat, always the tease, raised an eyebrow. "Whoa, Swara, you're looking unusually happy today! Any good news?"
I laughed lightly. "No, nothing like that. Just in a good mood! Anyway, I'll catch up with you guys in class later."
Swara's POV
As I chatted with my friends, I spotted Sanskar heading towards the library. An unexpected urge to talk to him, to apologize for yesterday's argument, surged within me. It wasn't entirely his fault; I'd been too quick to start a fight.
At the Library
I hurried into the library, trying to catch up with Sanskar.
"Sanskar, wait! I need to talk to you!" I called out.
Sanskar turned around, clearly annoyed. "What? Are you crazy? Why are you running and shouting like this? What's going on?"
Out of breath, I managed, "First of all, I'm not staring at you! I just came to say... sorry."
Sanskar's eyes widened with mock surprise. "Wait, what did you just say? Did Miss Attitude actually apologize? Oh, this is interesting! Don't tell me you've fallen for my charm and now you want to be friends?"
I rolled my eyes. "Ugh, no! I'm apologizing because I realize it was my mistake to fight with you for no reason."
Sanskar chuckled. "So, Miss Attitude finally admits she was wrong? How cute."
I felt my irritation rise. "Ugh! Why are you smiling like an idiot? You know what? I was right from the start—you're nothing but a donkey!"
Sanskar grinned. "Oh, I'm a donkey? And what does that make you? A crocodile? All you know how to do is fight!"
"Fight? YOU started it!" I shot back.
As we continued bickering, a loud bang echoed through the library. The door slammed shut behind us, and we found ourselves locked inside. The library had been deserted, as everyone had left for an urgent meeting. We were trapped—just the two of us.
My heart raced as I realized we were stuck together. Sanskar, noticing my nervousness, smirked and took a step closer.
"Hey, Mr. Oversmart, why are you smiling like that? Don't even think about coming near me! I'm warning you, I'm a black belt in karate!" I warned, though my voice wavered as Sanskar walked slowly toward me.
In a swift move, Sanskar pinned me to the wall. Our eyes locked, and for a moment, the world seemed to stand still. My breath hitched as we stood inches apart. Sanskar leaned closer, and my heart pounded wildly. I closed my eyes, lost in the moment, overwhelmed by emotions I couldn't quite name.
Just as I thought he was about to kiss me, Sanskar suddenly pulled away and walked towards the door. At that moment, the peon arrived and unlocked it. The tension shattered instantly.
I stood frozen, trying to process what had just happened. Slowly, I opened my eyes, a strange mix of emotions flooding over me, and tears welled up in my eyes.
Swara's POV
What just happened? Why did I let myself be so vulnerable with him? My heart was a confusing mess. And to top it off, I missed my first class because of Sanskar. Great.
Scene Shift – The Maheshwari Mansion
The imposing mansion came into view, where a group of elegantly dressed women were gathered, sipping coffee and discussing an upcoming charity event. Among them was Annapurna Maheshwari, Sanskar's mother.
"I think this charity function could be a great opportunity to help the children," Lady 1 suggested.
"Yes, I agree. What do you think, Mrs. Maheshwari?" Lady 2 asked.
Annapurna nodded thoughtfully. "I think you're right. We'll definitely plan for it."
At that moment, Sanskar entered the house, returning from college.
"Oh, Sanskar, you're home! How was your day? Your father was asking about you," Annapurna greeted him warmly.
Sanskar's response was cold. "Why now, Mom? Did Dad suddenly remember he has a son?"
Annapurna's face fell. "Sanskar, is that any way to speak about your father?"
Sanskar's tone was dripping with sarcasm. "Please, Mom. Don't insult the idea of fatherhood by calling him a father."
Without another word, Sanskar stormed off to his room, leaving Annapurna behind with tears in her eyes.
Annapurna muttered to herself, praying softly, "God, please... do something. I just want my husband and son to find peace with each other again..."
Sanskar's POV
In his room, Sanskar threw his blazer onto the bed in frustration. He closed his eyes, but instead of finding peace, all he saw was Swara. Her face, the way we stood so close in the library—it was driving him crazy. A smile threatened to break through, but he quickly shook it off.
What is happening to me? Why do I lose control every time I'm near Swara? Why can't I stop thinking about her? Swara, what have you done to me? No, this can't be happening. I can't be falling in love with her. I can't. She has to hate me. I can't allow myself to love her.
Sanskar drifted off to sleep, confused and tormented by his feelings. On the other side of town, Swara fell asleep with a smile for the first time in days, wondering if maybe, just maybe, things were beginning to look up.
