It'd been almost a month from when Lori told them where to go. There had been multiple people there already too. They settled down and got aquatinted with Glenn, Shane, Some woman named Andrea and her sister Amy, and more people. Daryl stayed in a tent with Merle, who wasn't to fond with living with other races.
Racist bastard.
Daryl usually needed to find something to take his mind off things so he just went hunting 24/7. He was taught this when he was a kid, by his dad. His dad said he needed to be a "man", and he was probably right. Daryl grabbed an arrow from his pack and pulled it back against the bow, hitting a squirrel in the back. Daryl grabbed it and stuffed it into his pocket like it was casual for him to do that. He had already gotten three squirrels today. After being confused for days, someone finally explained that there were dead people walking, what we're now identified as "Walkers" or "Geeks". It did kinda freak Daryl out, knowing that so many people died, and his mother was probably not alive... If he even knew what the that meant.
Shane was there, annoying the out of everyone. He'd always say things about Rick, pissing Daryl off. Carl and Merle stopped talking about how Rick "liked" Daryl. That helped him, but how much can not mentioning someone help, right?
--- Daryl's POV---
I just laid in my tent thinking about everything, like I did all the time. I knew it wasn't good for me, to be so lost in thought but I still did it. You know? I still thought about how much I actually missed that prick. He may have not liked me but I think I actually liked him... Here I go sounding like a damn middle school girl.
Get. Your. Shit. Together.
I jumped up and out of the tent, trying to find something to do other than sit around all day and wallow in self pity. Lori walked towards me, giving me a water bottle. I just nodded as a "thank you and tried to continue walking before she put a hand on my shoulder.
"I know it hurts..." Lori said, with her face down.
"What?"
"Don't play dumb, you've been moping around since we ever spoke. I know he liked you. I know he cheated on me... But to be honest I knew he was bisexual, I just didn't think he'd cheat on me."
My eyes widened, I wasn't comfortable talking about him. Especially with her. "It's whatever. He's gone, I'm fine." I said before I walked away with heavy steps. I just kept walking until I got to the lake, far away from the camp, and farther away from the people.
Yes, especially Lori.
I grabbed some pebbles and threw them at the water, they landed with a splash and didn't skip.
   Skipping pebbles is hard.
