The Last Ones....Ever

Memories Are A Strange Thing

That night I dreamed, well it was more like a nightmare. It was of Thomas, Teresa, and I. We were sitting at these hi-tech computers watching different people in what looked like the Glade. But it was different somehow. We all started to chant 'Wicked is good' over and over. I woke up sweating Teresa was in the canopy next to me sleeping soundly.

I ran my fingers through my hair, I'm sure it looks horrible. I got up and left out of the sleeping area before I woke someone up. The sun was just starting to appear so I figured I might as well stay awake. Thomas came towards me with two apples in his hand one green, one red.

"Here, your favorite" he said handing me the green one.

"You remember?" I asked.

"Piece of my memories came back last night" he replied biting into the apple.

"What do you remember?"

"You for starters, we kept talking about how we loved to sit in the grass and eat apples and talk about everything. It was a very long conversation, we know a lot about each other. But we stopped going outside after something happened, not sure what it was"

"Hmm I wonder what happened" I said biting into my apple.

"Your guess is as good as mine" he sighed.

"Is Minho up yet, I'm excited to get started"

"Yeah, he was bragging to the other guys about how you're the coolest person he's ever met" he laughed.

"Aw did you get offended" I joked.

"A little" he chuckled. Minho is pretty cool too and he's sexy but I won't let him know I think that.

*Inside the maze*
"Well are things looking normal?" I asked. We were in the heart of the maze.

"There are no Grievers so that's good news. But-"Minho started

"Shhh" Alby said cutting him off. He held his hand up indicating that he wanted us to stop walking. He looked around the corner and turned back to us. "There are two Grievers down there we need to go back now" he whispered.

We all turned around and tiptoed in the other direction. I don't know who did it but a pebble got kicked and you wouldn't think it would be loud. Then I heard that deafening screech that made my skin crawl. We all ran I was ahead of everyone and I didn't know where the hell I was going. Alby tripped and I turned back to help him. I helped him stand up while the other two distracted the Grievers. Thomas got knocked into the wall and the Griever came straight at me. Even if I ran I could still get stung. Just as it was about to sting me Alby jumped in front of me.

Thomas was back up and he was trying to help him. Minho was now fighting on his own, I grabbed the spear he dropped and slid under The Griever while stabbing it. It screeched and retreated while its insides where falling out. It didn't get far until it dropped dead. I ran over to the other Griever and stabbed it in the side.

"We need to go now" I yelled. I aided Thomas in carrying Alby while Minho lead the way. When we got back to The Glade everyone was waiting for us.

"Alby was stung" I said to Jeff.

"Let's get him to the infirmary" he said to three other guys. They picked him up and carried him off.

"Izzy, I have something to tell you" Teresa said pulling me aside.

"What is it"

"When we were sent up with the supplies, there was something else in there"

"What"

"Two syringes filled with this stuff, I don't know what it is but I managed to snag them before they noticed" she whispered.

"It could be medicinal you need to tell the guys" I said.

"I just wanted to talk to you first before I did anything. I'll go let Jeff know" she replied. She went and explained everything to Thomas and they went towards the infirmary. I was then approached by an angry looking Gally. Minho who came out of nowhere stood in front of me.

"She killed two Grievers, what the hell was she thinking" Gally yelled. I was doing my best not to lose my shit on Eyebrows.

"She saved us, if it wasn't for her we'd all be dead" Minho shouted shoving him back. I held on to his arm to calm him down.

"What about Alby, he's just as good as dead. All because of Greenie and the Newbie" he said talking about Thomas and I.

"At least we're doing something, what are you doing Gally? Not shit because you're still here, I refuse to die here" I yelled coming from behind Minho. Gally got into my face and I glared right back at him. "Do something Eyebrows, I dare you" I taunted. Before he could do anything Minho picked me up and carried me away. When we were far from Gally he put me down. "I should smack you, I-"

He cut me off by kissing my cheek then he hugged me. It shut me up just as much as a kiss on the lips would.

"I had to get you away from him. The look in your eyes said that you would kill him if you had the chance" he laughed. I rolled my eyes and let out a small laugh. I could tell he was trying to calm me down.

"I think I'm going to take a break tomorrow and just experience The Glade, it's peaceful" I said.

"Well we could sit together at breakfast before I go" he suggested.

"Sure" I smiled. Does this means he likes me? Is he kinda asking me on a date? I need to talk to Teresa. After talking for a little while longer he walked me to the pond where Teresa was sitting.

"Goodbye Minho" I said.

"Bye Isabella" he laughed then kissed my cheek again and walked away. I turned to Teresa who was giving me a look.

"What was all that about" she teased.

"I have no idea what you're talking about" I replied trying not to smile.

"He likes you, I can tell. You guys are so cute together. You're like a tiny munchkin compared to him" she giggled.

"He's like 6 feet and I'm normal so don't go there" I laughed.

"Thomas hasn't remembered anything about me" she sighed.

"He'll get the memories back, you have to give him time. So right now worry about making new ones" I said.

"You're right" she nodded.

"So what did Jeff say about the syringes?"

"They need something to test it on before they try it on anyone, we don't know what it is"

"I hope we figure it out before it's too late" I sighed.
