The Last Ones....Ever

Not Going To Die Here

The next day we were reprimanded by Gally and his followers. And by we I mean Thomas, Teresa, and I. He said that the reason that The Maze didn't close was our fault and he plans to offer us to The Grievers to make them go away. I knew Gally was an idiot but I didn't think he was this stupid. So Teresa and I were tied to poles at the entrance while Thomas was thrown onto the ground. I hope they have a plan. As they were about to make a move on pushing us in Minho hit one guy and cut Teresa and I's rope.

And Thomas hopped up no longer unconscious. Well shit they couldn't tell me this plan. Where was I when they came up with it? Minho handed me a spear and stood next to me along with Chuck and Newt.

"We're leaving Gally, you can either come with us or stay here" Thomas said.

"I'm not going to die here waiting to be Griever food, if anyone wants to come with us now is the time" I stated. I took a few minutes but some people walked over to join us. Some I knew like Winston,Frypan, and Jeff, others I didn't.

"Last chance Gally, come with us" Thomas said. He shook his head standing his ground. We made our way into The Maze. Thomas, Minho, and I led the way. Teresa held a machete while Chuck was behind her. It was pretty silent inside The Maze. Before we turned a corner either Minho or Thomas would look before we followed.

At the 3rd corner there was a Griever at the end. They signaled to us that it was time to fight. We all ran towards The Griever, it went down without anyone getting stung. We finally made it to the tunnel and I was so happy to see the exit a few feet away. What I wasn't happy to see were two Grievers pacing around it like guard dogs. Minho handed the device to me.

"Take Teresa and Chuck with you and get the exit opened" he instructed. "We'll distract the Grievers" he added

The guys went in first while we avoided the fight. We made it to the exit but a screen popped up and it needed a password. After a few tries I gave up.

"Keep trying to figure it out I'll help the guys" I said. I noticed that there were Grievers crawling up the sides of the walkway. I stabbed a couple while the guys were pushing them over the edge. I saw one pick up Jeff, I screamed and tried to get to him but by the time I made it he had been stung and threw over the edge.

"It's open" Teresa yelled to us after a few minutes. I saw her and Chuck go inside.

"Go Izzy" Thomas yelled to me. I slowly fell back then I ran towards the exit. It was dark inside. Then a few minutes later we were joined by all who survived. Frypan, Winston, Newt, Thomas, and Minho. The exit closed and the whole room lit up. Thomas opened a door which led down a hallway. We entered a laboratory strewn with corpses. A video then began to play, a woman, introduced herself as Ava Paige, we just saw her body with a gunshot wound to the head.

"The planet has been devastated by a massive solar flare, followed by a pandemic of a deadly virus called the Flare. You all were apart of an experiment studying for a cure" she stated. Then she stopped talking and you could see armed men invading her office, she then shot herself and the recording cut off.

"What the hell" Teresa said. She took the words right out of my mouth.

"Uhh guys" Chuck stated. We turned to a startled looking Chuck, he pointed to where we had just came from....Gally. He was holding a gun, and he had been stung.

"Gally what are you doing?" I asked cautiously. He was crying and holding the gun.

"Don't you understand we can't leave" he replied gripping the gun tighter.

"Leave what" Thomas asked.

"The Maze we can never leave" he stated then he aimed his gun at Thomas. Before I knew it Minho threw a spear at him but before it reached him Gally pulled the trigger. It felt like we were moving in slow motion, I saw Chuck fall to the ground.....he saved Thomas. He moved in front of Thomas to take the bullet. I stood there in shock as Thomas fell down to the ground next to him crying. A few minutes later masked, armed men barged in.

"You're safe now, let's get you all out of here" one of them said. I looked back at Thomas, I know he didn't want to leave Chuck. Truth was neither did I, I'm sure no one did. Chuck was supposed to make it. Teresa coaxed him along and we were led to a helicopter. When we were up in the air we flew over a vast desert wasteland and a ruined city.

"What happened?" Frypan asked.

"I'd say the Flare" I replied.
