This is a true story of what's going on in my life right now.

 Prologue

I made a mistake. I knew this would mess things up, but not this badly. Now I’m a mess and I don’t know what to do.

It was summertime, the sun was shining, the birds were singing, it was a perfect day. Little did I know that it would get better: I was talking to my friend, Lauren, on video chat. We had been talking about how things had changed since the last time we saw each other, since Lauren lives in the United States, and I live in Canada. We met in Florida at a water park that March.

Lauren told me she had met a friend named Ben. When she was explaining what Ben was like, all I could think was; we could be great friends. And I didn’t know him yet. Then she showed me a picture of him. He was gorgeous; green hazel eyes, dirty blond hair that looked perfect on him, and all together, he was perfect. But I didn’t tell Lauren that, of course. Even if they were just friends, I didn’t want her to know that I liked him.

Lauren told me she was going to add Ben to the conversation. I was super excited. When Ben accepted the call, we instantly bonded. He has the best personality ever, and is one of the best people in my lives. Ever since that summer, we had been talking, and texting non-stop.

Then we stopped for a while. It was almost like he had forgotten about me. I hadn’t forgotten about him, though. I mean how could I? I loved him, and I barley even knew him.

A few months later, we started talking again, but not as much. I never had the courage to tell him that I liked him, until one day I did... and it turned my life upside down.
