Next Gloomy Day

Storm clouds. They were a downer on anyone's day or night. Relaxing, refreshing is normally the first thing that comes to any human mind when waking up from a good nights sleep. Nope, not me on a stormy, I use to love waking up to the fresh scent of rain looming everywhere, or how the air had a cold crisp to it. Not anymore, maybe winter was starting to settle in again, I mean I have lost count of the days or even what season it is. If it is hot it is hot if it is cold it is cold, you know? The simple stuff. Stretching my arms above my head, I lean up onto my elbows and glance out the window. Their was a slight trickle running down my window and falling onto my window sill. Pulling the covers from my body, which kept all the warmth, my body was left exposed to the cool air of morning. My legs covered in goosebumps as I walked around my room looking for a pair of clothes to change into for the day. A shower was out of the question, it was just too cold this morning, besides I would just get dirty and need another one tonight. I let my bare feet feel the softness of the carpet before walking out my bedroom door and down the stairs to be greeted by the fresh, sweet smell of waffles. Yum. Such a long time since I have had one. My mouth was beginning to water at the thought.

''Finally dragged yourself out of bed'' Katelyn mentions with a soft smile gracing her lips. I return the gesture and fully step into the kitchen to be greeted by the warmth. I missed this. At home, in winter, stepping into the kitchen when mum or 'dad' were cooking to be welcomed by the warmth of whatever it was they were cooking. I couldn't help but to let another smile slip cause by the memory.

''Yours is on the bench, freshly squeezed juice this morning, took me an hour, I had to figure out how to do it again, it has been a while'' She says as I find my seat with the sweet smelling food drifting through the air. My mouth was now indeed watering at the sight. I laugh and shake my head before placing my bum on the seat and begin digging into my meal.

''We should head over to Andrew's today after Breakfast, I am meant to look after Judith today, I am pretty sure you have patrol duty as well'' She states, placing her waffles onto a plate for herself. She turns everything off in the kitchen and walks over to sit next to me at the breakfast bench. We smile at each other, her beginning to eat as I complete mine, sipping my orange juice. This breakfast was just so darn good.

''You've been quiet'' Katelyn points out, after swallowing a mouthful of food. I gulp, hopefully only loud enough for me to hear. How could yesterday's event escape my thoughts? Of course it didn't. I glance down at my now empty plate and shake my head, did I want to talk about it? No. Should I? Probably.

''I am just not feeling to well'' I lie. Okay, well not totally a lie, I wasn't feeling to well, emotionally.

''I am not going to push, but I wish you would talk to me'' she says drinking her orange juice.

''I do talk to you, just not always when you want me to'' I say, rising from my seat and grabbing both of our dishes, she replies with a simple 'thanks' as I take them over to the sink and beginning washing them up.

''It was crazy actually, I had a dream about you last night'' She starts. I just nod, though my back was facing her because I was in the middle of doing the dishes.

''You know, remember how you use to be when you first got here? With Sam and Blake...'' She says trailing off, just realizing she mentioned their names. I quickly turn around, ignoring the bubbles on my hands.

''You can say their names, I miss them like crazy but I have moved on, it was months ago, we need to move on, and I have, have you?'' I ask her seriously. She nods slowly, sending a soft smile. I return it before turning back around and continued on with what I was doing.

''How you changed, it was like Chandler has some type of effect on you, like he was your savior'' She says. I smile as I continue washing the rest of the dishes. He changed me for the better, I will always be grateful for that.

''Then when shit went down, when we were out there for months on our own, it was like you changed back, but you were worse'' she says. This was sounding more like reality then a dream.

''And now? Your not you, if I am being brutally honest, you seem broken almost'' She finishes. I could hear her chair skid against the floor as she pushes it back in. I finish up and dry my hands, I walk over towards her.

''Let's go, we don't want to be late'' Was all I said as we walk out the front door, of course grabbing our coast on the way out.

#13 minutes later#

We walked in the house to be greeted by Chandler and Andrew? They were both still here? They were both sitting on the couch, Judith was in her set up play pen where she could run and play while being safe. Katelyn was as shocked as I was. I wasn't ready to face being in a room with Chandler yet, even with other people around, it felt like I couldn't breathe.

''You guys are still here?" Katelyn asks as I shut the door closed behind us, leaving the cold outside.

''We were just about to leave, just waiting for you guys actually'' Andrew says standing up followed by Chandler. They walk over towards us, I stepped back. They didn't notice. Good.

''Chandler is going on patrol today and I was going to head out on a run with a few others'' Andrew says to us as they open up the front door. I look at Andrew but don't dare to look to the right a little to see HIM.

''Actually Katelyn I might stay with you today to help look after Judith, she can be a handful sometimes'' I say trying to get out of patrol duty today. Oh god, here I was being a pussy. I have fought years to be able to look after myself and now here I am, being who I always shamed upon.

''You are going to take east, Chandler and Sasha will be taking West'' It was like Andrew could read my mind at times. I was thankful for this, I didn't have to be near him at all today, things were going to be okay today. Oh quit being a woos Bekky. Seriously.

''Okay'' Was all I said as I followed them out the door and headed off to guard duty who I shared with Tara.
