After seventh period I went to my locker to get my lunch money and waited for Evie. I finally saw her walking down the hall with a big smile plastered on her face. When she got to her locker she was still smiling and staring at me, as if she was going to pull out a chainsaw any minute now. Ha-ha!

“So, what's up with and the new kid?!?" Evie asked excitedly.

"Levi? Nothing. Why?" I ask, kinda nervous to hear the answer.

“Well, I heard he talked to you in the hall this morning!" She says smiling.

“How did you find out?" I ask.

“Word spreads fast," She says.

“Okay. Why is that so exciting?" I already knew the answer, but I wanted to hear her explanation.

“Because like no one talks to you, no offence and like this hot guy comes to our school and you’re like the first person he talks to!” Evie says jumping up and down. She could not contain her excitement. I smiled just thinking about him, I actually couldn't wait to talk to him more.

"Oooh! Someone's in lo-ove!" Evie squeals and everyone turns to look at her.

“Sorry," She tells them.

“Shhhhhh! I don't want anyone to know. This is our secret; I didn't tell anyone that you like Jay Anderson, so you don't tell anyone that I like Levi Brooks. Deal?" I ask her.

“Deal," She says pouting.

We walk into the lunch room and go get our lunch. I get salad and Evie gets a cheeseburger, then we find an empty table, hoping no one will sit with us. We started eating our lunch when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

“Hey!" Levi said as I turned around.

“H-hi!" I stammered.

“Can I sit here? Cause you're like the only person I feel like I know," He asks.

“Uh, yeah sure," He sat down next to me and Evie couldn't stop staring at him.

“Levi, this is Evie," I said, motioning towards her. He held out his hand and she quickly shook it, letting out a little squeal as she did.

“So, is there anything fun to do around here?" He asked.

“Well, there's the mall and that's it," Evie replied.

“What do you guys do after school?"

“Um... We go to the theater," I answer shyly.

“You mean the movie theater?" His forehead wrinkled in curiosity.

“No, as in the acting theater. If we went to the movie theater every day after school, we would be broke!" Evie explained.

“Wait, you go there every day?" He asked.

“Yeah! Is that so hard to believe?" Evie said. Her eyes widened for no apparent reason.

“Why? It's just you two don't look like the acting type." He replied.

“Um, I don't think Haven would want me to answer that question without her permission, since she's the reason we go in the first place." Evie said cautiously, trying not to hurt my feelings. Even though it wouldn't because it's true I don't want Levi to know my life story. I just met him, for crying out loud, he's mostly still a stranger to me, I mean, I don't even know how old he is. He could have been held back for two years and he's like eighteen or something.

“Okay," He said turning to me. “Why do you go to the acting theater every day?"

“Some questions are better unanswered." I say as the bell rings.

Wow, Haven that’s the best thing you could come up with! I yell at myself in my head.

Evie and I throw our food out and start walking to our lockers, so Evie can get her books. As she bends down to get her books she asks, " Why did you do that?!"

“Do what?"

“You know what you like blew him off when he obviously likes you!" She retorts.

“He doesn't like me," I say shaking my head. “No boy has ever dared to like 'the mom killer', no one."

“Don’t call yourself that! It wasn't your fault your mom died!" She reminds me. I started to cry, again, and she hugged me.

“If I hadn't wanted to go home early from that party, maybe she would still be alive," I sobbed into her shoulder. I didn't care if Evie saw me cry, 'cause she was used to it. She's probably seen me cry over a hundred times in the past four months. I wiped away my tears and came out of her hug. We walked to our classes in silence, and when we came to my next class I said “Bye" to her and took my seat at my desk.
