The truth is rarely pure and never simple.

Jack's POV

This weekend I watched Emily while mom was at work and when she did come back she was too tired to get mad at me for not coming home Friday night, she went to sleep for a hour just to go right back out the door to her next job, that's all she does lately, since dad passed, was work. It's only been a year since then but it feels like just yesterday when he died. I wish I could help but I'm going through my own grieving over dads pasting, to be honest I don't know how to feel about his death. He was never home anymore and when he was then he would get calls even in the middle of the night. Then he'd run out the door and we maybe saw him the next day or he'd come back next we.

I was walking down the hallway lost in thought. Could it have been possible that he was living a double life? I always consider it before but when Elsa brought him up. I realized I had forgotten her dad and mine even knew each other. Back when I was younger he did the same thing leave suddenly or not be home for weeks at a time, he blamed it either on work or Elsa's dad. Elsa's Dad.....come to think of it....isn't he dead too?
Suddenly something ran into my shoulder. I bumped into some guy with glasses and caused all his books to fall. When I looked down at him he was gathering all his books, his shaggy brown hair was neatly combed to his head, and he wore a green long sleeve shirt with skinny brown pants. I could feel everyone stop in the hallway watching us, waiting to see what would happen next. I really didn't want to deal with any of this at the moment. When the nerd finally looked up his face went completely pale. "S-sorry," was all he said.

"Whatever," I muttered as I walked past him then stopped and said over my shoulder "watch where you going next time." It didn't really come out as a threat like I wanted to, but I've got a lot on my mind since Saturday morning. I heard him scurry into the library but I couldn't care less my mind was racing with thoughts about Elsa and Flynn as well. I new they were both in the same grade, a year older then me. So obviously they've probably have had multiple opportunities to talk when I wasn't around. When I had called Flynn for help I thought maybe he would call in a favor at the department or find some quick cash and bail me out because he always seems to have friends in weird places, yet I never thought one of them would be the four eyed nerds from our school to do so? Since when was he screwing around with a goody-two-shoes like her? She not his type or is she? After this weekend she certainly seemed like the hot bad ass type he usually would go for, as would I. He's so fuckn secretive lately. Actually now that I think about it he's always been like that. Some points I wonder if I really even know him. Every time I try asking him about his family or past before he met me he always seems to avoid the question or answer it carefully. He says his family didn't like how he lived his life so they sent him out of states. But he never talks about them, which is weird I would think he would rant about them at least once while he was drunk or something. I've never given it much thought before but now that I think about it I don't really know anything about my best friend.

That's when I saw him. He was walking into the library. I seem to act on instinct and hid in a door way that was closed but gave me enough room to hide I watched him carry on down the hallway, he hadn't seen me yet. I looked closely at his face, he had a bruise on his left eye. He doesn't have class in the morning so he shouldn't even be here. Why wouldn't he tell me he was coming in early and to the library no doubt? It's not like he studies he has a photographic memory. It's time I get to the bottom of this, I hide at the door watching him casually walk to the back of the library behind the book cases and every now and then looks over his shoulder. I hide behind the shelves of books able to avoid being caught. I looked back out as he turned a corner. I carefully tiptoe over to the end of the bookshelf.

I could see Flynn standing by a door into a small computer lab in the back. He knocked at the door and looked into the window on the side then walked in " This better be good hiccup......I shouldn't be here." closing the door behind him. Who the hell was he with that early in the morning? Hiccup? What kinda name is that?

I snuck over to the window and look through it to see their backs were turned from the door so slow and quickly I opened the door to listen. Flynn was standing next to a boy with shaggy brown hair I couldn't see his face. But I recognized his voice. Was he this Hiccup then?

"Well the. What is it?" Flynn growled in annoyance. "I'm not supposed to be here it's risky to meet here plus you shouldn't be messing with the classified information here?!"

"Actually it's much harder to hack into the DDA then you might think and I can't hack them on my computer they'd follow me back too easily."

"Okay??"

"Elsa has asked me to find out what so important about the flash drive since it's been kept a secret from us, but I can't get passed the binary code, "he started to go off on a rant with a bunch of geek speak. Elsa?

"Too the point Hiccup" Flynn pinched the brim of his nose.

"Right right sorry" Hiccup mumbles, "pretty much there's a bunch of firewalls with codes that change every point five seconds." He continues typing on thw computer.

"This is why you called me in hear?" He growls at him. Flynn didn't know the first thing about computers. He tried to stay away from them as much as possible. I never understood why though.

"Huh? oh! I was able to get into to city halls security network and make you a badge. " He pulled a small laminated Badge from his backpack. Why would Flynn need a badge into city hall? "Unfortunately it's only a intern badge, enough to get you through the front door, but I'm sure with your history of theft finding another one shouldn't be a problem." Theft?!! Flynn was a thief?!

Flynn nodded and looked at the plastic his eyes widened as he looked at the badge. "What the fuck Hiccup?!" He growled

"What?" Hiccup looked at him with a eyebrow raised.

"You put my real name on here?!" He shoved it in Hiccups face.

"Yeah so??" Hiccup obviously didn't see the problem.

"So?!!"

"What's the big deal you don't go by it anymore," I froze, was it possible Flynn was an ex con? No wait he's gonna break into city hall so he's active...?  Shit shit shit! Too many more questions!

"People can still track me if they scan this! It'll be in the system!! A lot of people want me dead! why couldn't you come up with something else?!"

"They only scan it if they think its fake. Just don't draw attention to yourself like punching someone in the face and you'll be fine. Elsa wouldn't have assigned you if she didn't think you could snag a few pieces of paper." Hiccup said as he rolled his eyes. "besides Fitzherbert sounds pretty made up to me" he chuckles.

"how about I punch you" Flynn clenched his fists, "he makes a moment towards Hiccup and the poor boy jumps back slightly.
"H-hey now!" Hiccup gulps and Flynn glares at him as he heads for the door. I quickly blot away from the door and crouch down behind a desk as I heard Flynn walk out and away from me and all my crap tone of questions.

What the hell was going on? First Blondie and now the computer geek? Who was Flynn Rider? I pulled out my phone and texting him asking if he was at school yet and felt like ditching.

Rider: not even out of bed yet.

He defiantly didn't want me to know he was at school or anywhere near it. I could just come right out and ask him but knowing him he could just come up with another lie or find a way not to answer I knew there was only one way to get the truth catch him red handed, that made it official.

"Looks like I'm going to city hall......" I high tail follow him.
