Chapter 23

OMG, sorry it took so long for me to update!! I've been super busy! I thought about ending the book, but I guess I'll keep writing!

Later that night, Dylan and I crashed on the couch. Everyone left, but I think Conner had a girl over, ugh. Dylan and I woke up earlier that morning, at like 7:30.

I had a pounding headache and it was definitely from drinking. You can never win... I drank in the first place because I was upset over Dylan. And I drank again after Dylan and I started dating, since I was excited.

I shifted my body on the couch and I think I woke Dylan. He moved his arm around mine and opened his eyes and looked right into mine. This boy was all mine.

"Good morning beautiful." Oh yeah, I could get used to this.

"Hey Dyl," I said while shifting my body to face to face with him. He leaned down and kissed my forehead.

"Do you still wanna go on that date tonight?"

What, was this boy crazy? Of course I wanted to go! "Obviously."

He smiled and pulled me closer to him. "Be ready by 6:00 pm and then we can leave." He kissed me and got off of the couch. He ran upstairs and instead of asking him where he was going, I just kept thinking about how he was all mine. Finally. I never thought he would even return from California.

The rest of the day, everyone helped clean up the house. It was a mess. Cups were everywhere, drinks were spilled on the floor and I'm pretty sure someone threw up in the bathroom. So gross.

I didn't mind cleaning though. I was just excited for my date tonight. Time was going by so slow. It was 10 am and we finally finished cleaning. My head hurt so bad and very one was so tired from cleaning. I don't know why we all woke up so early either. We made pancakes for breakfast. Rachel and her friends couldn't eat because if they would've, he would've thrown up.

I was starving, so I ate two pancakes with butter, syrup, whipped cream, and some strawberries. It was delicious. Dylan was still downstairs cleaning, but eventually he cane up and ate with me.

By 11, everyone was beat and the only thing that sounded good was taking a nap. Rachel was passed out and so was Carson and all their friends.

I asked Dylan if he wanted to take a nap with me, but he said he needed to get some stuff ready for tonight, so I let him go and I went to our bedroom.

I hoped in bed and turned on The Office and by the second episode, I drifted off to sleep. The cabin was completely silent. Way more quiet then it was last night.

I woke up to the sound of Carson and his annoying friends. I love my brother, but I really wanted to keep sleeping and he was being so loud. I walked out of my room and all of the boys were sitting around the kitchen table eating chips and guacamole. I think they were talking about everything that happened last night.

"Hey Sis, how was your nap?"

"It was good until you woke me up." I glared at him and his eyes shifted away from mine.

"Sorry Penny, we were just talking about last night and we completely forgot you were sleeping across the hall." He walked over and gave me a side hug, but I had just woken up so I was still grumpy.

I looked at the clock and it was already 3 pm. I slept for three hours? What? Where was Dylan? I walked back to my room and looked at my phone, which was tossed in the covers.

I had a text from my parents and from Dylan. My parents just said happy new year and they asked me to call them soon to check in.

Dylan said that he would be back at 6 to pick me up. I wonder where we're going. What would he need to get ready?

I decided to shower and start getting ready. I still had three hours, but it takes me a long time to get ready and I'm lazy so I'll probably end up watching T.V. instead of getting ready.

I showered for thirty minutes. I felt so gross. My body reeked of alcohol and we spent all day cleaning.

After I got out of the shower, I laid in bed for another thirty minutes. I was so tired, but I was also so excited for tonight.

I finally got out of bed around 4 and I went back to start my makeup. I finished in twenty minutes and then I dried my hair. I decided to curl it for tonight, so after I dried it I set out my curling iron. I took a break from getting ready and walked out to the kitchen to get some water. I saw Rachel and she was watching a movie on Netflix. I talked with her in the kitchen for a while and my 5 pm I started curling my hair.

Now I needed to decide what to wear. I put on my black jeans and my white sweater. I wore a grey vest with it and scarf too. Then I put on my grey booties and my jewelry and I was ready to go.

It was 5:45 pm and I was freaking out. I don't know why I was so nervous. I've known Dylan my entire life, but this time it's different. I started to get in my own head. I started to tell myself that I was too scared. I told myself that he was probably just doing this because he felt bad when he left and never came back.

I started hyperventilating and I could calm down. I needed some water and some fresh air. Why was this happening right now? Why was I psyching myself out?

I grabbed a glass of water and I walked outside onto the patio. I looked up at the sky. I was freezing, but it felt good. It was already dark and the stars were shinning down on me. There were no city lights or noises. It was peaceful. My body had chills all over, but I didn't care. I wanted to stay outside forever and just look up at the dark sky that was filled with shinning stars. I took a deep breath and i heard a door open behind me. I turned around and it was Dylan.

"Penny, it's freezing out here. Aren't you cold?" I smiled at him and turned back to look at the sky.

"I am, but I could stay out here forever. Come here." I reached out my hand and Dylan grabbed it while walking over to stand with me. He quickly hesitated and ran back inside, but he came out with a blanket. He wrapped it around us and I continued to look up at the sky.

"This is so pretty. It's like there's nothing out here that can touch us. Nothing can bring us down. Nothing can stop us. We don't have to worry about anything."

Dylan smiled and he looked down at me. "I could stay out here forever too, especially since you're here." He winked and I laughed because what he said was so cheesy.

"Penny, I hate to ruin the moment, but I'm freezing. Can we go inside soon?"

I don't know how he was freezing. I thought it felt good, but I was also hyperventilating and over heating right before he got here.

"Sure, we can go inside."

"Perfect, are you ready to go?"

I grabbed my purse and nodded. He grabbed my hand and we walked through the garage. We got in the car and we started driving. He wasn't telling me where we were going, but I don't want to know. I wanna be surprised.

We had been in the car for 45 minutes at this point and I couldn't take it anymore. I thought I wanted to be surprised, but at this point the suspense was killing me.

"Dylan!! Dylan! Please tell me where we're going. I can't take it anymore!"

"I guess you'll just have to wait and see..."
