Two Minds

Lalna sat up, rubbing his head. "We have to stop them."

Nano shook her head "We don't stand a chance. Lalna, these are primal beings. My magic alone isn't strong enough."

"When I said I did my research, I wasn't lying. Nano, you're far more powerful than you think you are. The Flux's power comes from life energy, just like how your botanical magic did. If we combine our life force, it may just enough."

Nano was appalled "That's eldritch magic! I read about it in the Thauminomicon. That much energy could have serious consequences!"

"There's gonna be serious consequences regardless if we don't stop them." Lalna grabbed Nano's shoulders. "You can do this"

Nano hesitated "But what about you? What if I fail?"

"You won't."

"Why are you so calm?!" Nano shouted, practically in tears "You're putting your own life at risk, and yet you seem so sure I can do this!"

"I know you can" Lalna hugged her tightly "Because you've done it before."

"What?"

"Remember the time you contacted me? Remember when you phased into my body as a spirit?"

"Yeah, but those were under special circumstances

Nano watched as her surroundings, including Lalna, dissolved into rainbow light. Looking down, she saw she had become a purple and red flame.

"I knew you could do it" Lalna's voice echoed from all around her

Nano looked up and saw a white and blue being of flame in front of her, holding out a hand. She took it, and was blinded by a burst of color. When she opened her eyes again, she was the only one in the room. She was wearing a purple bodysuit with white details like lab coat. Her hair was significantly shorter and had a dirty blonde streak down the side. She was literally glowing with power, and she could feel Lalna's mind in her own.

"Time to fight" She clenched her fists and two cleavers appeared, the fairy steel glowing.

"Time to win" Lalna echoed in her head as the cleavers ignited. Nano charged through the wall, jumping into the battle.
