Going to Florida for spring break was a bad idea. Not only I ended up in jail with my three other friends Brits, Cotty and Candy, after the police crushed the party we were attending, but Cotty got shot. Well, she survived her injury but she was brutally traumatized so she decided to follow my steps and go back home. The trip was simply a disaster.

 Meeting Alien was one of the worst things that happened to me. He was a local rapper in Florida and a gangster at the same time. He was selling drugs and guns. He was a dangerous guy. I didn't like him from the very first moment I saw him. However he charmed the other girls and they decided to stay with him and live the "American Dream", he claimed to be having inside his mansion. The girls were blinded by money and power. But, me, as I was only looking for a new free life in Florida, I wanted to have a space for myself. Spending the spring break in Florida was a way for me to prove to myself that I am living enough to be the person I want to be. I admit that I screwed up when I let the fact that my three best friends preformed an armed robbery to get us to Florida slip away like nothing happened. I loved them so much, but staying with them was not an option for me. All that things that they were planning to do with Alien was a sin and I don't want to be a sinner. My grandmother always told me that God is a merciful to his subjects but a sin is a sin and no matter how a try to change the way we are, we are going still be ourselves; however we can always upgrade who we are if we a believe in ourselves and on our ability to be God's souls in earth; strong, merciful and loving, that's how we can survive this world. 

After my short encounter with Alien and his gang, I went back home as I decided to not go back to college. I couldn't face all anybody, specially after Cotty called me and told me that she got shot and she is back to college whereas Candy and Brit stayed with Alien, who I knew later that he died in a gun fight with his rival gang. We didn't hear anything about Candy and Brit for awhile. Then, one day they called me and told me that they are okay and promised me to be a better persons. After that call I didn't hear anything from them. They just disappeared. And, here I am now in Huston, Texas, my hometown, working in a local restaurant and living with my grandmother. The dream of living on my own, away from everyone I know vanished with my trip to Florida. The world is a brutal place and family is my only salvation. No one can be there for you beside your family. My grandmother is all I have after I lost my both parents in a car accident. Life taught me at an early age that no matter how things got bad God is your only redemption. My grandmother told me when I was ten that everything that was handed to me by God is a gift and a lesson, and that I should take in no matter how bad or good it was. 

By grace through faith is my motto in life. I am a new girl everyday and today I am  the girl who believes in new beginnings.
