Chapter 5: You'll Be Okay {I Promise}

Scarlett's POV

I felt my eyes turn a bright yellow as I felt chills going all through out my body. "Da-..danger? Zhadow?!" I glanced up at him beginning to form tears in my eyes, I was frightened, I couldn't stand the thought of becoming a heartless monster just to be the first test victim to a cure. I know it sounded selfish but I didn't want to risk my fucking life, at least not now. I let out small whimpers just thinking about this thought.

"Yes...." Zhadow now hung his head feeling guilt and shame.

"Zonic brought you here for the reason of capturing survivors to use as test subjects on the infected. We can't capture any zombies without being eaten, and so, the Leader of the G.U.N. agency came up with a solution to use mobians or humans as test subjects, but non of our zone cops."

He than looked back up now making eye contact with me, I stared deep into his eyes while tears began to form as well from all his might and guilt. I still listened as he continued to explain the situation.

"Zonic does care about you, but he's only doing his job.... We have tried capturing innocent survivors to put the infection in their innocence. The scientists here in the facility are trying to find a cure but we can't, not without a test subject." I still listened as my ears were slowly pushed back.

"And search for answers on how this all started. I don't like the idea of it Scarlett, but it's for the company's own good. So far we haven't found any survivors, but Zonic found you..."

Zhadow spoke in a quick tone while he quickly put his hand over my mouth as I was about to reply.

"You mustn't say anything!" He whispered loudly. He slowly moved his hand off my mouth as I felt a bit light headed.

I looked down in shame, I was going to die for the stupidest reason in the world. But why now? Why me? My eyes felt heavier as I thought more and more about dying ever so quickly and unfairly.

"But why do you worry Scarlett?" I quickly held my head more curious on what was about to escape out of his lips. He looked deep into my eyes with a smile written across his face.

"I'm going to help you get out of here alive because the final decision will be made tonight." I looked up at him with much hope as he shifted his hand on my cheek ever so softly, while I rubbed his knuckles.

I quickly leaned in for a hug. 'Should I really trust him.' I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek trying to push the thought away so he wouldn't know what I was thinking about.

His cheeks quickly flushed a Rosy red color as I smiled with a little giggle. He gently grabbed my waist as I put my arms around his neck, and as soon as we were inches away from kissing, I felt my ears twitch from a sound of jingled keys.

I quickly turned around and faced Zonic who was now coming in the room. 'Speak of the devil!'

"Well, well, well...." He spoke in his sexual tone raising an eyebrow. I rested my head on Zhadow's chest as he wrapped his arm around my waist concerned.

"Zonic, I-..." I tried explaining while Zonic put his hand up in the air signaling me to stop talking.

He looked at Zhadow who gave him a concerned look. Zonic as stupid as ever than realized Zhadow told me everything by the looks Zhadow gave off.

"You told her?!" He spoke in a high pitched angry tone.

"I had to! I can't let you turn her into a zombie.!" I felt water coming on me from Zhadow's eyes, I hadn't realized he had been crying.

Zonic shook his head and spoke, "Scarlett, I'm sorry but-..." I shook my head as well signaling him to stop talking, I felt my eyes turn into a bright ruby red color like Zhadow's eyes.
