Chapter 9: Don't Be Scared

Shadow's POV

'Why does she not remember me?' I asked myself walking out of my shitty excuse of a house, and down the steps I went. I sat down on the grass wondering about her, dreaming about the past that use to exist.

'Us what ever happened to us? Us against the world....'

'Eggman must have something to do with this invasion but I would've known by now and how to stop him. Things weren't adding up anymore, I mean how did this invasion of half dead species even start? Things weren't making sense either. I've gotta find Sonic and the gang for help, and stop this crisis.'

I looked up at the balcony to see my stained white curtains flowing out the window to where Scarlett is sleeping. *Sigh* 'What am I going to do?' I asked myself getting up from the grass. "Arghhh!" My ears twitched hearing the screams of zombies a mile away. "Shit, I almost forgot." The zombies were soon headed our way again.

I looked around and noticed something red, bright red, that caught my eye on the ground. I quickly walked over to the object and snatched it from the ground. It was a backpack that I believe Scarlett brought along with her. I grabbed the silver zipper from the edge and unzipped it.

It revealed guns, packed inside the backpack as I looked inside. 'Advanced weapons.' I thought while grabbing the ray gun that was hidden way at the bottom of the back. I snatched it while it revealed a note from the bottom.

'Use only when needed.' It read.

"Arghh!!" I looked up and noticed the zombies quickly approaching over to my territory.

"Shit!" I yelled. I quickly ran inside and up the stairs.

"Scarlett!" I called out revealing her still beautifully asleep.

"Wh-..what? She answered in her morning voice.

"The zombies are headed over here and we need to suit up right now!" I warned her putting emphasize on now.

She didn't bother to get up or move a bit instead, I pushed her up gently and carried her. We needed to get to the barn that was across from the house we currently are in..

I quickly opened my closet door and snatched a machine gun, two pistols and my green emerald I hid inside a wooden box. "Argh!" I heard the zombies getting closer. I walked out of the balcony and noticed the zombies already taking off the boarded wood that I put up to block the entrance over to my territory. "Chaos Control!"

Scarlett's POV

I suddenly felt a reaction of fast energy go across my body which gave me chills. I shivers spread across my body but I tried holding it back, clenching my teeth as hard as I can.

I felt myself jumping up and down while hearing the sound of someone's footsteps running. I couldn't tell if I was dreaming or not because I felt like I was being held. I began to open my eyes slightly from a beaming light that hit my eyes. Passing by beaming lights actually, on and off, on and off...

I noticed something black and blurry carrying me. The black blur's grip was getting harder around my arms. I closed my eyes tightly and opened them again revealing Shadow's red streaks.

"Sh-...Shadow?" I questioned while he ignored me. I than rose my head higher to see where we were at. 'Where are we?' I thought. I than noticed Shadow starring down at me, he gave off a shocked expression.

"Where are we going?" I question once more while I gave him a warming smile.

"You gotta shake off your sleepiness right now, the zombies are going to get here any minute." My eyes than turned yellow from the fright I developed just hearing those words.

He quickly stopped while putting me down. I stretched my arms from the stiffness I still felt. I was still stretching and noticed Shadow opening a closet which I took a peek in. It was a bit awkward if you were in my place at this very moment actually.

"Here." Shadow finally answered handing me two pistols.

"Thanks but I don't use th-..."

"I couldn't get your original pistol on time." He interrupted me.

'Well!' I thought while I looked up at Shadow waiting for his reaction to peek in but he only reloaded the machine gun he held in his arms, making no expression.

"ARGHHH!" The zombies were quickly approaching faster. I looked down from up the stairs and noticed 2 zombies running up the other set of stairs.

"Shadow! Quick, HIDE!" I yelled in a whisper tone.

I quickly grabbed his shoulder and pushed him behind some boxes where I hid when me and Shadow battled. "ARGGGHHH!" The zombies screeched looking for us.

"Quick! Follow my lead." Shadow whispered while he pushed me slowly down the other set of stairs.

Things were going well, keeping quiet and all, until I bumped into a couple of boxes. I turned around waiting for the boxes to hit the ground, while holding my hand over my mouth, until Shadow saved the day and saved them up from falling. 'Oh thank god!' I thought.

Shadow quickly replaced the two boxes back on the top and stepped back hitting other sets of boxes which fell to the floor.

"Shit!" The zombies looked over to us while they gave us both death stares. It was a female and a little boy, they quickly started running towards us as I jumped off from up top not wanting to be up there anymore.

I quickly ran outside leaving Shadow behind inside the barn. "Shadow?!" I yelled out for him. I turned around facing the barn where I heard Shadow firing his machine gun. "SCARLETT?! come back inside! arghh!" He yelled out. Ignoring his concerns, I quickly turned around again and was surrounded by zombies, a lot of zombies!

They all stared at me while I gave them a slight smile. They screeched and screamed while I started running away. I quickly shot 4 zombies straight on the head with my two pistols.

I ran straight into another small white barn full of hay. I quickly closed the doors behind me while the zombies held onto the edges not wanting to let go. Holding onto the door with my back facing it, I got out a combat knife from my combat boots and cut off each of their fingers finally closing it shut. *Panting* I was out of breath and was really thirsty. I touched my forehead revealing sweat on my palm. The swear dripped down my forehead, I wiped it off and suddenly heard the sound of Shadow's machine gun firing again.

"Arghh! ughhhh! murahhhhhhh!!" I heard all kinds of screams of terrors from outside and quickly sat down on a corner waiting for my hero to come to my rescue. I grabbed onto my ears trying to ignore all those types of screams, I couldn't stand hearing those fucking demons from hell anymore. "ARGHHHH!!!!" I yelled not wanting to ear it anymore.

After 5 minutes of hearing the machine gun firing I looked up to the sound of the barn's doors opening. Shadow stood there with all kinds of scratches and types of blood on his chest.

"You *huff shouldn't run from *huff* a fight Scar *huff*." He spoke coming towards me falling onto the dirt.

"Oh my gosh, your hurt." 'DUH. DUMBASS.' I thought to myself. I touched his chest while he made a grunting sound.

"Come, let me get you inside." I wrapped my arms on his back and legs while he wrapped his arms around me as well.

"Let me chaos control us out of here."

"No, it's too much of a hassle." I spoke.

I quickly started running to the other house. 'Why was I too scared to fight? Wow did I look like a pussy. -.-'
