Rejecting The Princess

River

I walk to Cadens office mentally preparing myself for seeing him again.

I reach his office and I quietly knock on the door. "Anna? Come in." I hear him answer. I breath in a breath before I step in. Instantly overwhelmed with his smell.

"The King and Queen have said that it is completely fine if we stay here, and the she is sending the Gamma to your pack
He should get here by tomorrow. He will stay for one day and then leave to go to the rest of the packs." I tell him quickly, wanting to get out of there as fast as I can.

When I finished talking he looks a little bit happier, but I'm not sure. "Thank you for informing me Anna."

"Your welcome, that is I all I wanted to say, so I'll be going now." I start walking out the door when I hear him.

"Wait I want to ask you something."

I turn around to look at him. "Yes?" I question, a little annoyed that I have to stay with him and his I intoxicating scent any longer.

"Are you okay?" He asks, looking at me seriously.

"Oh my gosh, why do people keep asking me that! I'm fine, it's fine." After I say that I instantly feel bad. That is the first time, if you don't count the me calling him a jerk when he rejected me, that I snapped. Since I will be Queen I have learned to keep my temper down, I guess I need to start going back to those classes.

"Who else knows?" He asks me. Stepping closer.

"Besides you and I, my parents know, and so do Ryan and Jackson." I tell him taking a step closer to the door.

"I'm sorry that I asked you that question, I'm sorry that it annoyed you but my wolf needed to know if you are okay." He tells me, and then very quietly at the end I hear him add, "and so did I." But I don't think he wanted me to hear that last part.

"It's okay. Oh, and that reminds me, I never met your wolf, what's his name?" I ask, honestly curious.

"His name is river." He says and before he has a chance to ask about my wolf I ask him another question.

"Can I talk to River." I really want to meet Cadens wolf, hopefully he is better then Caden.

Cadens eyes cloud over for a bit, and once they become clear again they are pure black, meaning that River is in charge.

"Mate want River?" He asks me. For some reason I am oddly calmed by his three year old talk. Since wolves don't usually talk they tend to talk like a little kid when they do. Even if they are really smart and clever in your head and can speak full sentence. I guess it is just harder to pronounce some words.

Upon hearing River talk, my wolf, Meadow gets excited and tries to take over, but I push her back because I want to get to know River.

"Ya, I wanted to get to know you and see what your like." I tell him, and hearing this I see the happiness take over his face, or I guess, Cadens face.

"Don't worry, River better then human, human not smart. That's why I blocked him out completely." I smile at him. I am also kind of glad that he blocked Caden out completely, so he can't see or hear what we are saying.

"Well that's good." I tell him, now not really knowing what to say.

"Does mate like River?" He asks me, and I can hear a little sadness in his voice.

"Of course I like you River, you didn't reject me Caden did." I say honestly, taking one of his hands and holding it. His lips lift upwards, and he smiles a genuine smile.

"Mate not going to leave, right? River loves mate. River will take good care of mate." I blush a little at his words.

"I don't know River, I will try to stay as long as possible."

"I don't want mate to leave." He whimpers sadly.

"Don't worry River, if I do leave you will still see me all the time." I say while hugging him. "I think you should give control back to Caden now." He hugs me tighter before saying okay, and I step out of his grip and watch as his eyes change back to Cadens color.

Cadens P.O.V.

"Can I talk to River?" Anna asks, and it makes me kind of sad that she would rather talk to him than me. I almost say no, but River pushes forward after hearing that his mate wants him.

After that he blocks me out so I don't know what is happening. You can only block one another out if you are a higher power wolf.

After a while I start fighting for control again, River finally gives in and slips to the back of my head.

Now that I have control again I notice that I smell a lot more like Anna. But before I can focus on it more I hear her talk.

"I guess I'll just be leaving now." she says.

"Wait." I say stopping her once again. Not that sure why I did.

"Ya?" She asks, turning around to face me.

"Oh, um, I just wanted to say goodnight." She looks at me weirdly before replying with a 'goodnight', and walking out the door.

Once she is gone I try to talk to River. 'Did you hug Anna?' I ask him. For some reason feeling jealous. Even though I shouldn't since I rejected her. To be honest I thought that the rejection would hurt more than it did and I didn't expect to feel this much of the bond still.

'Maybe, and even if I did, you have no right to be jealous.'

'I know, your right.' I tell him before leaving my office and start walking down the hall to my room.

Along the way I walk by Anna's room and I stop for I bit hearing her steady breathing and hear beat before continuing on walking to my room.
