"mum, when are we getting home?" I asked in the backseat leaning forward.

"Just be quiet Lyric." My mom said, her words slurred slightly. We had just finished spending our night at a house party of a family friend.

"Dad?" I asked, not starting to get worried yet. I trusted my family and I knew that my dad was a good driver. Although we kept swerving into the other lane. We were a long windy highway on the edge of a cliff, there was barely any cars to be seen.

"They're following us." My dad said, his eyes were flicking back and forth and he looked ill.

"Who is dad?" I asked, my 15 year old self was really naïve. I didn't understand that my dad was having a drug overdose. My dad didn't answer but lurched the wheel over to the side. My mom didn't even scream, but I did.

"Dad!!" I screeched as our car broke through the guardrails and off the cliff. It felt like the big drop at the beginning of a roller coaster. But it lasted a lot longer, and the pain was worse. I screamed and screamed until we hit the trees.

"Lyric! Lyric! Wake up!" Ender was shaking me, I lurched up and wondered who was screaming before I realized it was me. I shut my mouth and started sobbing, my whole body convulsing.

"Hey, hey. It's okay you're here and you're safe." Ender whispered, pulling me into his lap and smoothing down my hair. If I wasn't so scared I would have swooned. I stopped crying after about 5 minutes, the whole while Ender was rocking me back and forth and holding me. "What were you dreaming of?" Ender asked, his eyes filled with concern.

"The car crash." I sighed, my body was still shaking and I couldn't stop it. My head was resting against his neck and my legs were balled up in his lap. I then realized that I wasn't wearing any pants, I recoiled and snuck back under the blankets. I laid there shivering at first, but then Ender drew me close. I rested my head on his chest and he had his arm around me.

"It's okay, you're safe here. I won't let anything happen to you." He whispered, running his hand through my hair as I drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, light streaming into the bedroom woke me up. I noticed that Ender's arm was around my stomach and his head was embedded into my hair. I carefully lifted his arm off of me and walked into the kitchen, before taking out my phone.

"April?"

"Yeah, whazzup girl? Figure it out yet?"

"I don't know, but I need to tell you something that happened last night."

"You didn't.....hook up with him did you?"

"God no! Who do you think I am?! We just kissed. A lot. But I stopped it before it could go anywhere else." I said.

"Wow. You are going to need to give me all of the details when you get back."

"I'll be back by tonight. See you then."

"Bye."

I shut down my phone and noticed a text message from Carol : "Good morning Lyric, today is your last day as a married couple so please pack up your stuff and meet me at the same coffee shop at 1:30." I almost forgot, I was so used to being "married." That I forgot that we weren't actually married.

"Husband!!" I yelled. Ender slid out of the bedroom.

"Yes wife?" I laughed and shoved the phone is his face while he wiped sleep from his eyes.

"1:30? Then we go our separate ways?" Ender asked, his voice sounded dis believing. For some reason his statement hurt me, I didn't know what I wanted this to turn into. But hearing him say it, makes my heart break.

"Separate ways?" I asked

"Well yeah, I mean the week is up." Ender said, a confused look on his face while staring at my shocked one.

"Are you saying you don't actually like me?" I asked.

"No, but you were the one who said that this can't happen anyways." Ender said, obviously my words had hurt him.

"I changed my mind okay?!" I said

"Well I can't just sit here every single time you change your mind." Ender said, anger filling his eyes. I instantly recoiled and backed away from him. I turned on a heel and marched into the bedroom to get packing. I was packing things into my suitcase. Tears began forming in my eyes and I quickly wiped them away before more started forming. I couldn't close the zipper so I just sat there staring at it and sobbing. I got up and changed into a dress and twisted my hair up into a bun. I finally collected myself and walked out of the bedroom. Ender got up from the couch and reached an arm towards me.

"Lyric hold on."

"No." I said. "You were right. This can't happen." Ender fast walked in front of me, stopping abruptly.

"Okay, you don't want to talk to me right now. I get that. But we need to talk after we get "divorced"."

"Fine." I replied, brushing past him. I couldn't understand why he was doing this.
