6. Screw Up is Gerard Way's Middle Name... Jk, it's Arthur

Frank's Friday night was amazing. He and Gerard went to the music store, then to Dairy Queen for ice cream, and then they went to Walmart because Frank's mom needed something. The two boys almost got kicked out because they knocked over a stand of CDs, which Frank really didn't remember how it happened.

But Frank called it a successful evening until Gerard dropped him off. That was where everything went south, like very far south. So far south that you saw fucking penguins. First off, Frank's parents were fighting, so you could hear them yelling from the driveway. If that didn't embarrass Frank enough, Gerard leaning in for a kiss and Frank getting out of the car finished the job. He didn't know Gerard was going to try to kiss him until he was about to close the door.

All Frank could do now was sit on his bed, wishing his parents would shut the fuck up and want to text Gerard. But he knew Gerard wouldn't reply. He saw how his unofficial date looked: upset. Gerard looked like he'd been stabbed several times by his best friend. But maybe that was just guilt morphing his memory.

Frank was pretty upset about how the unofficial date had turned out.

Gerard Way would've called the night a great one until he dropped off Frank. As you know, Frank's parents were fighting. Gerard didn't really know if that was normal for Frank or if it was new. He didn't know if he should've said something or offered to let him stay at his place. So he just didn't acknowledge it.

Another thing was that he leaned in to kiss Frank, but Frank was exiting the car as he did so. And that didn't help Gerard's self esteem or end the night well. The two didn't even say anything to each other as they parted ways. Just awkward silence. Because Gerard was an awkward fuck who only knew how to plow someone.

"How was your date?" Mikey asked. Gerard shook his head, stomping up to his room. His mother turned her head from her knitting and TV show for a second before returning her attention to the soap opera and the quilt.

Mikey Way was curious how Gerard's first date went. So, he followed his brother upstairs, but was careful to not upset him more.

"He didn't kiss me!" Gerard said, really bothered.

"Oh..."

"He just left the car. I guess he didn't notice, but he didn't say goodbye either... He just left. His parents were screaming at each other... And... I dunno... Dating is stupid. Why did I try it?"

"Well, you still like Frank, don't you?" Mikey asked. Gerard reluctantly nodded. "You could text him... See if he noticed... Maybe he did, but he was too scared to..."

"Was he scared that I would fuck him in the car or something? I'm not a monster..."

"I meant nervous... He seems like a jumpy kid," Mikey shrugged.

"Fine... I will... But, not right now. I am just gonna shower..."

"Want dinner?"

"No. We got some food before the date was totally fucking ruined!" Gerard said with exasperation. Mikey rolled his eyes at how flamboyant his brother was. He let himself out of the room and back to his dinner.
