20. Literally the Worst Cliche Ever

Gerard really didn't want to hear that his dad had moved back. He didn't want to hear about how his father was 'going to change'. He really didn't want Frank anywhere near his father either. But Mr. Way invited the Iero family to dinner. And Frank's family happily accepted, against Frank's will of course.

"Ugh... This sucks," Gerard whispered to Frank.

"Yeah..." Frank agreed. The families were sat together at the large table in the dining room. Mr. Way was at the head, his wife to the left. Mr. Iero was across from Mr. Way, Mrs. Iero to the left of her husband. Mikey sat across from Gerard, Frank next to his boyfriend.

"So, you two boys have been dating for a while..." Gerard's father stated. Frank internally groaned. His parents weren't actually aware of his relationship until prom.

"What does it matter?" Gerard asked.

"It matters because you're my son."

"Fuck off, old man," Gerard rolled his eyes, making both the mothers cover their mouths. Well, Mrs. Way wasn't shocked. She'd heard her sons cursing since they were ten, but obviously Mrs. Way was very dramatic from all those soap operas.

"To your room, Gerard."

"I'm so scared. Are you gonna leave again while I'm up there?" Gerard asked, laughing.

"You're grounded."

"From what? My phone? My car? My laptop?"

"Stop it, Gerard," Mrs. Way warned. Mikey sent his older brother a pleading look.

"No. I don't want to do this. Neither does Frank." Frank bit his lip nervously. There was a long pause as everyone looked at Frank. Gerard began to think that he had made a mistake pulling Frank into it.

"Yeah. I'm with Gee. I don't want to do this..." Frank stood up, holding Gerard's hand. The Iero couple looked at their son, horrified that he had made a scene in someone else's home. "Stop, Mom and Dad."

"Frank, you're grounded, too."

"Come on. I'm suppose to be in my room." Frank followed Gerard upstairs, Mikey following them afterwards. They heard their parents apologizing to one another.

"Fucking assholes," Gerard rolled his eyes.

"Love you, Gee," Frank kissed Gerard.

Gerard Way was fucking grounded. Like, he couldn't drive his car, he couldn't use his phone, laptop, or even the house phone without supervision. Mikey wasn't in trouble because his parents were playing favorites and right then, they favored Mikey. Obviously, the youngest Way brother didn't care. He just spent time with his brother.

"I'm gonna sneak out and see Frank."

"What? No! You'll get in trouble!" Mikey objected.

"What are they gonna do? Take away my college fund? I'm so scared. Dad's only doing this because he wants to be a jackass. Mom is only following him because she doesn't want him to leave. You know she never actually cares."

"I guess..."

"I need you to go out with Ray... Like I'll sneak in your back seat while you distract Mom and Dad. I'll pretend to be taking a bath or whatever..." Gerard knew it would be easy to be ignored by his parents. He'd just run a bath and lock the bathroom door.

"But does Frank know?" Mikey asked.

"It's a surprise."

So, Mikey Way found himself telling his parents about a new bass he wanted, even though he actually didn't want a new bass because he has bought a new one a while ago. Gerard was already in the back seat of his brother's car. And then the two were driving. "Thanks, Mikey."
