anyway, here we go -•-•-
luke sips his hot coffee and picks at his bag of potato chips (not a very healthy breakfast choice but luke doesn't care) as he waits in his car for the first school bell to ring when his passenger side door is suddenly opened. luke panics until he sees the familiar light green eyes and dirty blonde hair that's much darker than luke's but not quite dark enough to be considered brown. luke relaxes when the boy sits in the car and closes the door behind him.
"jesus, nathan, you scared the shit out of me," luke exhales and shoves nathan's arm which just makes him laugh.
"at least i got some sort of reaction out of you! you haven't said a word to me in six years."
"try two weeks."
"same thing," nathan smiles.
luke holds his small chip bag out to nathan who happily dips his hand in before popping a few in his mouth. "any reason you haven't spoken to your good friend, nate, in so long?" nathan questions.
"just been kind of distracted. how's that too-good-for-you girlfriend of yours?"
"jess is doing great, dick," nathan laughs and snatches the bag of chips out of luke's hand.
"no need to be hostile," luke laughs, "and you know i'm right. jess is the sweetest, smartest girl to ever walk this planet and you talked to me about cheating on her."
"hey! i was a different person then! i'd never do that now, i don't even know what i was thinking when i said that." nate looks down, almost disappointed in himself.
luke crumples a straw wrapper and tosses it at nathan, hitting him on the side of his head which makes the green eyed boy crack yet another smile.
nathan always manages to brighten luke's day, no matter what the circumstances may be and it's been that way since luke first met nate on the first day of junior year. michael moved away the summer after sophomore year so luke wasn't really looking forward to going back to school at all since michael was/is his best friend.
luke didn't eat breakfast that day and by the time second period came around, he was starving so he asked his teacher if he could use the bathroom when really he wanted to get something to eat from the vending machine. he only had three quarters (a/n: i don't know how australian money works, sorry) but everything in the vending machine was at least a dollar.
nathan, who witnessed the scene, kindly offered to pay for luke's snack and they got to talking and realized they had a lot of the same classes. they pretty much hit it off from there.
