A month passes of Eli and I being "just friends". The count of time we've slept together have only gone up three, but we've hung out plenty. I've gotten to know her and her friend, Darcy well. She refuses to let me walk her home or see where she lives. Probably because she won't even tell me her last name. Luckily, Darcy secretly told me it was Lewis. Elijah Lewis. It suited her. It was a somewhat tough name, and Eli was a tough girl.
Over time, I'm glad to report we've gotten closer. She still only gives short answers to personal questions-or doesn't answer at all-and smokes more than anyone I've known. She laughed when I told her I was a singer, but made me say I would sing for her sometime.
That's the thing I liked about her. She was tough, but her walls only went halfway. She was a softie and she had a sense of humor and sometimes went on rants about work. Secretly, it felt good getting to know her. The funniest thing was when she found out I was famous.
"Ok, you have some explaining to do," Eli greeted me when we met on a street corner.
I started walking down the sidewalk, slowing down so Eli could keep up with me with her short strides. I learned that was how she taught herself to walk, because she loved to admire everything around her when she did. "Yes, madam?"
"So when you told me you were a singer, I assumed you were famous somewhere. And I know I've seen you before somewhere. Then there's always the girls, and boys, asking for photos like every time we go out." I nodded as she went on, adored by the way she figured things out. I don't think she even realized it herself, but Eli loved to solve puzzles. I'm sure I'd find a stack of sudoku puzzles somewhere in her apartment.
"Then me and Darce were talking about it, and she was like, 'Hey, let's just look it up', and how the fuck did I not know you were in a boy band. Like an actual boy band, I didn't even know those still existed."
I chuckled and leaned a bit closer to her. "Well, that is my career, yano." She waved her hand and went on ranting.
"Why didn't you tell me you were famous?"
I shrugged, glancing at the busy setting around us. "I figured you knew, or if you didn't, you'd figure it out. I always meet someone who doesn't know who One Direction is, and that's cool. Also, that night I gave you back your panties, the black ones-"
"You remember the color," she pointed out.
"That night, the guys I was with. They're in the boy band with me."
Eli nodded. "Well, yeah, I saw photos. You were so adorable as a fetus," she cooed, pinching my cheek. I shook my head and grabbed her hand as she giggled. I pulled her closer and hugged her as we continued to walk.
"Where shall we eat?" I asked after we walked two more blocks.
Eli shrugged, looking around. "I kind-of want Mexican."
"Mexican it is," I agreed, motioning forward."Earth to Louis," Niall said, waving a hand in front of my face.
"Sorry mate; what'd you say?"
Harry smirked. "You're really head over heels for this girl, aren't you Lou?"
I shook my head and scoffed. "I've only known her a little while, not even two months."
"Yeah, seems you two are a lot closer than less than two months," Liam mentioned, wiggling his eyebrows.
We all chuckled but I just shook my head again. "Shut up now. We're just friends."
"Yeah, friends with benefits," Niall said casually, keeping his attention trained on the tournament on tv."
"No, just friends." Just friends, I repeated to myself.#Eli#
"Ok, can we get the groom and the bridesmaids together?" I ordered, checking the last photos I took.
Four women shuffled up to the area where the groom stood waiting. They all looked like neon penguins in the tight, green dresses they all wore. The groom had to help them jump up on the platform because they were so tight. One of them dropped their flower bouquet and had to bend down to pick it up.
When she did though, two things happen. I don't know which made me laugh more, her fake hairpiece falling out, revealing the short hair she really had, or the rip that could've been heard from outside. She shot back up, forgetting the flower bouquet on the floor. Her face was as red as her lipstick so at least that matched. The other bridesmaids had mouths hanging open as they tried to assist her up the platform. Both me and the groomsmen received dirty looks from the bridesmaids as we held back snickers and giggles.
The best man looked up at me as we both put on straight faces. Except his didn't stay on for long for it was replaced with a smile directed at me. He wasn't a bad-looking man. He was actually pretty attractive. His dark hair was styled to swoop upward, or it was just naturally like that. He had cheekbones I could only dream of having, and the stubble made him instantly more attractive.
He mouthed 'hi' to me when I didn't smile back. I turned my attention back to the scene ahead of me and waited for the embarrassed bridesmaid to be ready for photos. As they say, the show must go on. I guess that applies here.
The groom's face was full of pity as he helped the bridesmaid stand straight. The bride stood a few feet away from me, mouthing 'sorry' to the women in front of me.
"Ready?" I asked right before flashing more photos. While I was bent over the camera, the best man moved over to me. I knew because I heard a low 'hi' behind me.
I cleared my throat and flipped my hair over my shoulder, taking more photos.
"My names Brendon. And you are?" Even his voice was nice. It was deep and raspy, it reminded me of Louis'. Well, without the accent.
"The photographer," I muttered sarcastically. Brendon chuckles behind me.
"Well, hello The Photographer. You got a last name or is it Photographer?"
I looked back at him and straight into the deep green eyes. "Groomsmen and bridesmaids together please." Brendon chuckled again and moved up to the platform to join the others.
In the middle of my photo-taking, I took attention to Brendon and saw him wink.

After the wedding, I went to my apartment with eyes half closed. I was so wiped from this event, I just wanted to sleep.
It didn't take long to strip down my work clothes and get comfy in bed. As soon as I did though, my phone rang.
"Hello?" I picked up, grumpy at whoever was keeping me from sleeping.
"Hello sleeping beauty," the British accent said from the other end. Suddenly, I was just a bit less tired. But still annoyed.
"What do you want?"
"Did I awake you?" Louis asked. I could hear him grinning.
"No but you're keeping me from sleeping."
"Ah, forgive me, love. I'll leave you to it then. Just be at the street corner tomorrow around noon. Night, love." And he hung up.
I set my phone down next to me, not bothering to put it on the nightstand. Even though I was about to pass out, I got a little flutter in my stomach from excitement. The excitement being from the thought of hanging out with Louis tomorrow. He really was becoming my best friend.
