Darcy has me in tears when she's finished telling her story.
"I'm telling you, it wasn't my fault!" She exclaims.
"Sure it wasn't, the shoe stand just knocked itself over...and all the others," I added at the end, downing the rest of my drink.
We both calm down from our giggles and take deep breaths. "Ok," Darcy begins. "You need to stop drinking. No more for you." Then she takes my glass away and sets it on the counter on the other side of her.
"I-what, why?" I pout, leaning forward to look up at Darcy with big, puppy-dog eyes.
Darcy shakes her head and closes her eyes. "You," she points a finger at me," are becoming a drunk and a smoker and that is not good." I gasp and hold my hands up in disbelief. "You need to stop doing these one-night stands and settle down. Find someone like Averon and-"
"I am not finding someone like Averon, first of all," I argue.
"What? Why?" Darcy whines.
"Well, for one, his name is Averon."
"Ok, what do you have against his name, you and Sage. I-I don't get it."
"It's, it's weird. Darce. It's a weird name."
"It is not a weird name," Darcy argues.
"It's a weird name," I whisper. Darce gives me look before glancing behind me. Her face lights up and she glances back at me. I sigh, knowing what's coming. "How hot is he?"
"See for yourself," Darcy holds back a smile, but it doesn't work.
I turn around only to be completely surprised. It's Zayn that entered the bar and is sitting only a few seats away from Darcy and I. He's smiling right at me, and I know it isn't a hallucination because I've only had one drink tonight...and a few cigarettes.
"Eli," Zayn greets me.
"Australian accent," I greet back. I'm gonna need another drink.

Somehow, I've gotten in a mess where Zayn and I are laughing at Darcy's story as she tells it once again. I add small footnotes to Zayn as Darcy goes through it again. He's moved to the other side of me so if I wanted to get out alone, I was trapped.
"It's cool, we've all been through those things before," Zayn assured her before winking at me.
"Thank you, Zayn," Darcy gives me a look and I blow smoke in her face. She coughs and pushes it away. "Well, it's getting late and I really should be going. I'm gonna meet up with Averon."
"His name is weird," I say, not looking at her.
"His name is not-," Darcy stops herself before she starts another argument about his name. "Nice to meet you, Zayn."
"Nice to meet you, Darcy," Zayn replies as she walks out. "She's a sweetheart."
"Mm, isn't she," I agree.
"What about you?"
I raise my eyebrows as to ask what he means.
"What are you like? It seems I've been getting to know Darcy since I arrived."
I don't answer him but instead continue to smoke.

It's been a few days since I've seen Eli, and I was happy to see her again. She finally agreed to let me pick her up at her apartment. This was only because she was too tired from a night out with Darcy to do any excessive walking, but I'd take it.
I decided to take a page out of her book and walk to her apartment. Eli had an eye for beauty, being a photographer. I think she was born with it, even if she didn't realize or acknowledge it. Kind of how I see her; I know she's beautiful, and so do other people. But to Eli, she's just another girl in the crowd. I want to be the person to show her she's not.
The walk took a while, an hour according to the directions I was reading on Google. It wasn't the nicest part of town, but it certainly wasn't the worst. A few blocks over, then it'd be the worst part of town. But the building she lives in was okay. It was small, and had a nice, faded brick exterior with some graffiti here and there.
Eli told me to just go straight up to the fourth floor so that's what I did. I smiled at the clerk behind the desk who Eli told me was Sage. He looked a bit young to be at a job like this, but I wasn't judging. We all have to start somewhere.
The elevator was a big one, the kind you could fit a really big family into. It stopped on the fourth floor, and the doors opened to a large, rusted gate which I assumed was their front door. I lifted it up with most of my weight, but it didn't take a lot of effort once it got higher. The elevator doors closed as I gently set down the gate behind me.
"Eli?" I called out. The studio apartment was nice. It wasn't huge, but it wasn't tiny either. To my right was a large dark purple curtain covering a part of the space. Next to it was a single door, the only door in this whole place. In front was a small kitchen. A couple of counters, cabinets, and a table with colorful, mismatched chairs. To the left of it was another space covered with a matching purple curtain. I assumed that was where her or Darcy slept, and they used those for privacy. And finally, to my left was a small, colorful living room. I had a hunch it was Darcy who decorated the place mostly, since she seemed to be the bright one of the two. Not that I minded, Eli looked good in dark clothes. On the same wall as the elevator in the living room were two slim, long windows. And they were the only windows I've seen so far. There was a bit of clutter around, but not the worst I've seen.
"Eli?" I called out again. The sound of a shower running came from somewhere nearby, most likely the single door. Then a woosh of the curtain next to the kitchen was swung open, revealing a sleepy Eli in an oversized t-shirt.
"Hey there," she greeted, yawning. Her hair was matty and tangled, and her makeup from last night was rubbed across her eyes. She still looked like an  angel to me.
    "Fun night?" I chuckled.
"Mm, totally. Darcy only let me have one drink," Eli complained, jumping up on the empty kitchen counter.
"Oh, shame." The shower turned off from behind the door, and the faint sound of a squeaky door opening was heard.
"It is a shame. But that also means I got to smoke more cigarettes." I chuckled, pushing my hands in my jacket pockets. I could smell her from my spot across the kitchen. She reeked of the smoke smell, but it had been like that since I met her. In the bar, I assumed it was just the air, but I knew she was a heavy smoker when the smell lingered in my hotel room the next morning. I didn't mind though, she quickly made the smell my favorite.
Eli continued to rub her eyes. I looked at her from her feet swinging to her thighs spread out on the counter to the way the t-shirt hung off her shoulders, how her hair hung messily around her. It took everything in me to not walk over to her and push myself between her thighs, grazing them with my hands while I kissed her neck. I knew she would just push me away, telling me that's not what 'friends' did, even though she didn't have a problem with it when we both had a bit to drink. I hated that it took that for her to let me touch her, but now that I have, it was way better than not touching her.
"How longs it gonna take for you to get ready?" I asked, rocking on my heels.
Eli looked up at me with her brows furrowed and a droopy face. She so looked adorable, I wanted to kiss every inch of her face. "Mm, I need a smoke." I would've gladly given it to her.
"Ok, well. I don't mind waiting. However long you ne-" I was cut off by a door behind me opening, and a voice that wasn't Darcy's that made me freeze.
"Louis? That you?" I could've sworn it was... I turned around to see a freshly-washed Zayn with nothing but a towel around his waist. His chest and tattooed arms were still glistening with water.
"Zayn? What're you..." I was almost speechless. It felt like someone had punched me in the gut over and over. I looked back at Eli who was now staring at us with raised eyebrows.
"You two know each other?" The way she sounded genuinely surprised hurt me even more. I couldn't wipe the shocked look off my face even as Eli looked at me confused.
"I used to be in One Direction with him. I left last year," Zayn explained. "How do you two know each other?" He founded almost suspicious, which was rich coming from the guy who just slept with my...friend.
"Lou and I are friends, right Lou?" Eli nodded to me.
Realizing I was standing there like an idiot with my mouth open, I nodded. "Uh, y-yeah we're friends. Uhm, but I, uh, I have to go n-now."
Eli gave me a weird look. "You just got here, I thought we were going to hang out."
"I actually have to meet someone else but...y-you two have fun." I nodded to Eli and Zayn before forcing my legs to bring myself to the elevator. My mouth felt dry and my legs felt like I had been walking for a hundred years.
"Good to see you again, mate," Zayn yelled as I reached the elevator.
"Ok, well bye," Eli called out behind me. I couldn't bring myself to turn around again and look at either of them. I let myself in the elevator and ran out the lobby.
I felt physically sick. I know Eli slept with other people on plenty of one night stands, and I know I had no right to be hurt or jealous, but I couldn't help it. The thought of Eli with anyone else made me feel like throwing up, but to physically see Eli with Zayn, of all people. It wasn't some stranger, it was someone I knew. Someone I once called my brother.
What hurt most was just that fact, I had no right to be upset. Eli repeated multiple times how we were just friends, and even so, I treated her as more. But I had no right to, especially if that wasn't what she wanted. Even if it felt like it, like sometimes she really did want more.

Zayn walked over to me, holding a hand over the towel to keep it from falling. "That was strange."
I nodded, running a hand through my tangled mane.
"Any idea why he acted like that?"
I looked at him and shook my head, letting my hair swoosh across my chest.
Zayn looked skeptical as he neared me. "You sure you're just friends?"
I shrugged. "Yeah. I mean, we've slept together a couple times but we're just friends. I can't believe I didn't know you used to be his band mate. Band member?"
Zayn held up a hand. "Whoa, whoa. You two have slept together?" I nodded. "But you're nothing more than friends?" I nodded, wondering why he was repeating everything I told him. "Ok, so, are you just friends or are you both just friends?"
He lost me. "What're you talking about?"
Zayn sighed and leaned against the counter next to me. "Eli, I've known Louis for years. We're not the closest anymore but still. The way he acted," he pointed toward the elevator," is not the way someone acts when they're not more than friends."
Zayn stalked off to my makeshift bedroom and started to get dressed. I sat on the counter and thought about what Zayn just told me. It didn't make any sense.
I thought Louis and I had an agreement. Sure, he was extra flirty sometimes, but I assumed that was how he always was. He knew I had slept with other people regularly, he knew the only person I've ever settled down with is Darcy. Did it really bother him that much that I slept with Zayn? He never showed any other emotion about knowing about my other one-night stands. I guess I'll just have to talk to him.
