A/n: Hello new readers! I see a lot of comments on my first few chapters and I would like people to take them with a grain of salt (I wrote them like two years ago lol). I don't want to redo them, they're a part of my journey as a writer, but I thought I'd say that it does get better! Enjoy~

"Dad, mail is here!" I shout through the house, and I soon hear my father's footsteps rushing down the stairs.

"(Y/n) come here with the mail," his calm voice, with slight huffing from rushing down the stairs, filled the house. He grabbed the mail and went through it all in seconds. I soon saw his eyes widen. "Yes! (Y/n) come look at this!" I peered over his shoulder and noticed the header on the letter. 'Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry'

"Did I get accepted?!" I had grown up in a family of witches and wizards, except for my mother. My father said she was magical, but never told me what she truly was.

"Yes, you got accepted!" My dad then stood up and engulfed me in a hug."What house do you want to be in? Ravenclaw, like me, Slytherin like your uncle, Hufflepuff like your grandparents, or be the first Nixx in the family to be a Gryffindor?" I thought for a moment.

"Ravenclaw, or Slytherin. I would prefer Ravenclaw; though." I wanted to follow in my father's footsteps.

"What makes you want Slytherin?" He questions me.

"It's the same house that Merlin was in, and so, I would much enjoy being in said house," my dad just looked at me.

"You're a total Ravenclaw, because you are amazingly talented and smart, and hard working. Any classes that you are excited for?"

"Either Potions or Defence Against the Dark Arts," I think about how much fun these classes would be.

"Well, let's send in that you accept the invite to the school, we can then head Diagon Alley afterwards." I nod, and rush upstairs to get ready.

As soon as I was dressed, my dad joined me downstairs. Soon, we grabbed our floo powder and went to Diagon Alley. After buying my robes and books, we went Eeylops Owl Emporium and bought a snowy owl for communicating with my dad. Next, my father and I were off to Ollivanders wands.

"Are you a first year looking for a wand?" I nodded at the man in the shop. I was alone in the shop as my father went to everything else on the list: a cauldron and telescope. He handed me a redwood wand, I gave it a flick and some papers caught fire.

"Oh dear, I'm terribly sorry!"

"It's fine child, here, try this." I was then handed another wand Blackthorn wood wand, and with a flick of my wrist, a vase broke. We had tried two other wands, Elder and Ebony, both failing miserably. My final try for a wand was A Fir wood wand, and with the wand, I had completely fixed the mess within the shop, perfectly.

"The survivors wand, you have great potential, child." The shopkeeper had a kind smile upon his face. I waved goodbye and left the shop, until I had bumped into another student--or at least whom I had presumed to be another student.

"Oh my, I'm so sorry!" I helped the boy up. He had a warm smile, "I'm (Y/n) Nixx, it's nice to meet you," I had my hand out for him to shake it.

"My name's Finley Roswell," he shook my hand, "It's nice to meet you. And a Nixx at that, how lucky I am!" He had a giant smile upon his face. For another year one student, he was surprisingly tall and slender, with bright green eyes and light brown hair. When he smiled, he had dimples on his cheeks. " I have to get my wand, but I promise to look for you when we board the train to hogwarts," he smiled at me and waved goodbye. He went inside just as my father had arrived.

"I brought you a gift as well. Meet Misty," my dad pulled a black kitten with dark blue eyes out from his jacket. My face lit up as I picked up the sleepy kitten. My father soon took me home, and I practiced magic that I had learned when I was younger. My father taught me magic that didn't need a wand, which had taken me forever to figure out as it is one of the hardest magics to learn.

I made things within my room float, more than I ever had before. I was so happy, and my magic seemed to be boosted by my emotions, and a book shot up and smacked onto the ceiling, alerting my dad. As soon as the door in my room slammed open and my panicked father was in my room, everything fell onto the floor.

"Did-did you do that?" Panic left my father, and his face lit up. He had definitely seemed proud. "You sure are taking on after your mother!" I was already engulfed into a hug.

When I fell asleep that night, the summer had seemed to drag on, until it was finally time to go to hogwarts!
