I had been in the hospital wing for a few days and I was finally able to join the rest of my year. When I came back I was greeted by many people who knew my name yet I did not know theirs. Word travels fast in this school.

I became shy when everyone kept crowding me, asking how I did it. I couldn't help but lose my voice and be completely flustered. Luckily, the trio cam to my side and stuck with me (which helped me be less and less shy).

Today would be the first day I got special training from McGonagall, I went to her room and she helped guide my magic. She first wanted for me to tap into my, what she called, raw power. This meant, just release magic like you did when you first bought your wand. It was pretty much to see where I was at with magic.

I laughed slightly at the memory of the day I got my wand. It was the day I met Finnley, who I was yet to see this year. I frowned at the thought. "Alright, (Y/n), lets have you just flick your wrist and do whatever feels most natural." I did as I was told.

I held my wand firmly and flicked it around, causing a stream to come out of the tip. The stream made fireworks appear. Sadly, they were just as loud as normal fireworks were (yet much less, as the fireworks had been small, as was the noise).

"You have a very fantastical magic. It almost has a mind of its own. It's pure, innocent even, though powerful and untamed. However, I can help you tame your magic, in-a-sense. Let's start with seeing how quickly you learn spells. Personally, I'd love to see you transfigure things. Then again, that is just my preference. You may do whatever you like." She had a small smile on her face, a kind smile a grandma would give you that you passed on the streets.

"Sure, I'd love to learn Transfiguration!" I didn't know what to learn, I wanted to learn anything and everything.

"Optimistic. Alright, let's start. You have a black cat, correct?" I nodded. "Please, bring her here. Quickly." she shooed me away. I rushed to my dorms and grabbed my lovely little kitten then rushed back to McGonagall. It took more time then I would have liked, those stupid stairs kept on moving. "Flick your wrist and point your wand at your target. Let's start with your shoe. Once you flick your wrist, concentrate on transforming your shoe into a bird. Then speak, Avifors."

I took off my shoe and did as I was instructed. It took me two or three times until the shoe gained wings. From there, it became a full fledged bird. "Very good, (Y/n). It normally takes a day to learn this spell, and you learned it in under an hour. Let's try something else, this time, it has nothing to do with Transfiguration. It has to do with defense. I personally believe the new DADA is incompetent." I laughed at her comment. "This spell will produce water from the tip of your wand. Say, Aqua Erecto." I watched the movement she made with her wand and copied it. Easily, I made a small spurt of water, but it was nothing compared to what it should have been. "We will sure work on that."

"Why did you have me get my cat?" I looked over to Midnight, who was rubbing against my leg.

"I was going to have you transfigure her into a cup, but I decided against it. I will be teaching your class how to do that this year, so there is no need for me to do it now. Oh, would you look at the time. Please, go to dinner and rest. I've stolen you enough for today." I waved goodbye and thought over what I learned. I had a lot of fun learning ahead of my year and learning one-on-one.

I quickly walked to the dining hall and grabbed a bite to eat. I noticed an empty seat beside Finnley. "Well hello hello, (Y/n). Nice for you to grace us with your presence. Where have you been?"

I decided to keep my extra learning a secret, "I was just staying after and talking to my teachers to see what I missed. It's not much, it should take a week at most for me to get caught up."

"Well, isn't that just great. How have you and your Gryffindor friends been? Getting into any trouble lately?" He looked over to the trio and started slightly longer at Harry.

"Other than what happened at the beginning of the year, nothing that I know of. Then again, that isn't to say trouble is blooming." I continued to chat with Finnley until dinner was over. He and I both walked towards the library, to get something for a late night read. "Finnley, since you're a year above me, would you mind helping me pick a book that is above my level, and my level of reach. You're much taller than I am."

He and I both started laughing, and the librarian eventually yelled at us to go to sleep.

Finnley grabbed a book for me. "You won't be able to do these spells, but why not learn them. Maybe I can teach you a but. Hexes and Jinxes are my favorite after all." I hugged the book tightly, I loved trickery. It was so fun to mess with people.

When we both grabbed our books--mine for learning purposes and his for light reading--we went back to the dorms and sat by the fire reading until curfew. I said my goodbyes and goodnights, then went on my way.

I had a slightly evil smirk on my lips as read through all the hexes. God these would be so fun! I sometimes regret being so young, wishing I could just skip ahead in time and have already learned these things. Yet I keep going, learning is half the fun after all.

I didn't sleep that night, I just kept reading. I had finished the hex and jinx book, and went on reading the third years book who slept next to me. She wouldn't mind, as long as I returned them.

I twisted and turned in my bed, unable to sleep. With a pout on my face, I went back to the common room and found no one. Absolutely no one. Which was rare, considering many Ravenclaws tend to be awake with their thoughts.

Since I was alone, why not explore. The common room had many books surrounding its walls--many missing as well. I ran my hand along each and every book until I felt one thats texture was very different from the rest. I pulled it out of the case, half expecting a secret door to open (sadly none did).

I started reading the small book which held notes upon notes of potions and spells and weird inventions, all which were meant to have a different meaning. I kept reading through until I found the signature of Dumbledore. I read the small book and tried to decipher if this was all nonsense and silly ideas or things that could really work.

They ended up being nonsensical. It was still a fun read, I got to dive into the mind of our headmaster for a bit. That reminded me, I should probably return this to him.

A/n: This chapter is more filler than anything, but it's fun to learn more about what you enjoy doing. Your character is a very curious cat and sometimes learning random things can get you far. Also, I really just wanted to write about the magical world beyond the books.  I'm finally back, and I'm started to like my writing. It's less dialogue and more description, and I can now integrate both into my writing. Anyways, I'm going to be writing more often, so be excited!
