A/n: Sorry for the day late update! This took me longer to write than expected lol. Hope you like it!
We all knew we couldn't jump straight into the chamber to find Ginny. First, we needed to figure out how in the world to open the damn thing. That was my job. We also needed a plan, that was Ron and Harry's job. So, I was currently camped out in the library scanning the most obscure books I could.
Nothing told me how to open the chamber, nothing in the normal section of the library, at least. I needed to get into the restricted section... now. It was risky, going in the daylight and all. I left the library, turned the corner, and made myself invisible.
As soon as I got into the restricted section, I knew I had made a mistake. I wasn't the only person here. Teachers were here, more specifically, Snape and Flitwick. I froze in my spot and nearly got knocked over.
I waited in the next isle of books for them to leave, and when they did, I began my search. It took me a while, but I finally found a clue as to what we needed to do.
The book was a code, and it wasn't something I could decipher. It was in Parseltongue, and luckily Harry knew how to speak it. I ripped the page out of the book and went to find them.
When I did, I scared the living daylights out of them. I forgot I was invisible, oops. I handed Harry the paper, and he quickly read it over.
"I guess we're doing this, aren't we." Ron said, clearly nervous.
"Yeah we're doing this! We don't have any time to wait. Come on, we should go now." I grabbed onto both of their arms and began dragging them in the direction if the bathroom.
"(Y/n), wait." Harry dug his heels into the ground, causing me to stop and turn to face him and Ron.
"What's up?"
"I think it would be best if we asked Lockhart to join us."
I stared at Harry in disbelief.
"He's defeated stuff like this, all his books, don't you think asking him would be best? I mean, it's not like he'd turn it down, right? He's so over confident, he would pretend like he found this thing, right?"
He had a point.
"I don't know, Harry. In all honesty, I don't think Lockhart actually did anything he said he did. Something about him just seems...off."
"Then we ask him. He says no, we know he's a fraud. He says yes, and it's our best chance to save Ginny," Ron chimed in.
"Alright," I let out a deep breath, "Let's go find Professor Lockhart."
We practically sprinted to his office. As soon as we got there, though, my suspicions had been confirmed. He was packing his bags and fleeing. However, Harry got him talking. I have to hand it to Harry, he's a good negotiator in situations like these. He managed to play on Lockhart's love for attention and got him to join our quest.
I wish I could say that was what happened. Lockhart was being a wimp, threatened to use the memory charm on us, and Harry used Expelliarmus on him, then forced him to join our quest.
Once we got to the bathroom, Myrtle told us where she had seen the glowing golden eyes, letting us know that it came from the sink area. Harry then spoke in Parseltongue and the sink opened up in this majestic, yet worn down, way. It was a sight to see. Everything moved out of its way and opened into this slide (which I was not expecting).
"I'm going down there." Harry was the first to speak.
"Me too," Ron and I spoke at the same time.
"Well, it doesn't seem that you'll be needing me," Lockhart began to turn away and run like a coward, "I'll leave you to it."
"You're going first," Ron snarled. I was surprised at this, go Ron.
Lockhart attempted to negotiate his way out, but Ron nudged him down and he slid down the pipe.
I snickered. "Nice going Ron." I gave him a quick high five before jumping down the pipe. Harry and Ron joined in a matter of seconds.
I lite my wand with Lumos, Harry following suit. It was dark, slimy, and gross where we stood. Harry mentioned that we must have been miles under the school, under the lake even.
I was scanning our surroundings when something unexpected happened.
"The adventure ends here, kids! I shall take a bit of this skin back up to school, tell them I was too late to save the girl, and that you three tragically lost your minds at the sight of her mangled body--say goodbye to your memories!" Lockhart had gone mad.
Harry grabbed Ron's wand, as it had not been used for light, and yelled, "Obliviate!"
I watched as Harry was flung backwards, towards me, slipping on snake skin as he did. I helped him up, and when I did, we noticed a wall separating us, Ron and Lockhart.
"Ron! Ron are you okay!" His first instinct was to check to see if they were still alive, but mine was,
"Fucking hell, Harry, where'd you learn to do that?"
"I'm here!" Ron exclaimed. Thank god he was alright. Ron told us how Lockhart did not look alright, after being blasted by the wand. "What now?" he asked.
Harry and I both looked around for a bit. There was no way out for us, at least, not the way we came.
"Wait there, and if we're not back in an hour," Harry looked at me.
"Try to move the rocks." Ron understood.
"Don't worry about us Ron!" I called out. I heard him laugh.
"It's not you I'm worried about..." His voice went quite.
Harry grabbed my arm and started dragging me through the chamber, until we came upon a path that split.
I put my hand on Harry's shoulder. "I'll go left. Don't worry about me. Right now, we need to find Ginny and our best bet at doing that is splitting up."
"Leave a trail, in case there are more split paths." He picked up a rock, I followed suit. "One hour," he whispered.
"One hour." I whispered back.
We both went on our separate way, I went left as he want right. When I came across another choice of path, I placed a large stone in the center to show which way I went. I didn't walk for all that long, until I came across a large door.
"Alohomora," I whispered. I wanted to be as silent as possible, so I could get the upper hand in a silent attack (if possible). I left a rock outside the door, and shut it behind me.
The room was dark until the door shut completely, and its torches lit. I raised my eyebrow quizzically at the room before me. I was in a library.
I walked along each isle, glancing at the titles of all the books. I couldn't read any of them, they appeared to be in a language unbenounced to me.
The end of each isle lead to an reading area with a single chair. After scanning each isle, I went to the chair and found book on it. This book was familiar to me, yet I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
I sat in the chair. The chair faced a fireplace, and it lit once I sat down. I opened the book and attempted to read it. The first page had a few names on it, one was nearly gone but it started with an M. The next was Riddle, but it seemed to be scratched out in anger. The last name there was Pouvoir, F.
Mom?
A/n: this took me a total of three days to write lol. Anyways, I planned on finishing the year in this chapter, but I decided it was getting to long. Might update halfway through the week and get over with, so that this Sunday's update can be about Summer! Anyone have an idea as to who M is and what this tiny library is doing in the chamber? I'd love to hear your theories ;)
