The Forever Bride Of The Living Dummy

Chapter 6

"Your engagement ring?" I asked surprised. She didn't look up at me, "I haven't seen this in forever!" She said excitedly. Dad got of the couch and looked over mum's shoulder. "Are you sure it is?" dad asked, peering down at it. Mum nodded. "I found it in Slappy's jacket pocket" I said. Then I thought, What was Slappy doing with my mum's ring?

"What on earth would a dummy have your ring?" dad asked, looking up at me. Mum shook her head, I could see a smile on her face. "I don't even care, I'm just glad that its back" she said happily as she put it on her left hand, she looked down at it smiling. I never saw mum so happy in her life. "Thank you Lucy" mum said, still smiling. I didn't say anything. Mum and dad went back on the couch and went back to watching TV. I went back outside and found Bella still sitting on the grass. "What took you so long?" she asked as I sat down next to her. "I found a ring in Slappy's jacket pocket" I said frowning. Bella looked at me strangely.

"A ring?" she asked. "Yeah a ring, I showed it to mum, apparently is mum's lost engagement ring" I continued. "I don't get though what Slappy was doing with it though. "Slappy probably took it" Bella said, still frowning. I laughed, I thought it was a joke. She just looked at me dead serious.

"Come on now, You don't believe that... don't you?" I asked, sort of laughing. She shook her head, still frowning. "Don't you think its a little weird that Slappy has our mum ring? One she lost when you went when you were 7 years old?" I scoffed. "Maybe." She stood up, still frowning. "I'm gonna go inside" she said as she turned and walked inside. Sometime after she left, Max came from out of the house and sat down next to me. "Hey boy" I said happily as I patted her yellow fur. I don't now for sure, but I swear that I saw Max smile, Then after a minute or so, Max got up and ran back inside. I looked over my shoulder. He's trying to tell me something I thought. So, I got up and went back inside.

As I stood in of the door-archway of the back door, I could see Max gong upstairs, I quickly ran upstairs after him. When I got to the top, I saw him go into my room. What's in their that he wants to show me? I thought puzzled. I ran to the archway of my door and looked in. Max was sitting down in front of my bed look, looking at Slappy. I walked next to him and looked down at him. "What's wrong Max?" I asked aloud. He barked. That's strange I thought, Max has always been know to sense things about people, like one time, when one of mum's friends from her aerobics class had came over, Max kept barking at her, no one knew why. After she left, mum found that some of her jewellery had been stolen. While mum called the police, Max went out through the front door and chased after her. When the police did came, we all heard Max barking, we all went outside and found her and Max. The women was fined for theft.

It's been a few years since then, and he rarely barks at anything. So why was he strangely barking at Slappy? "What's wrong about Slappy?" I asked him again, he barked again, ignoring me. I looked over at Slappy, he was still in the same position as before. I shrugged, it was probably some strange smell that he had, that's why Max is barking him. I left the room, leaving both Slappy and Max in my room. I tried not to think about what had happened that morning for the rest of the day, but somehow it kept echoing at the back of my mind. When dinner came, I was glad, finally something that can get my mind of Dummies and Charlotte.

"So Lucy, how's your day" dad asked as I begun eating the spaghetti from my plate. "Yeah, it was good" I said, holding my fork in mid air. I put the fork in my mouth, chewing the spaghetti. "How was your day then Bella?" dad asked Bella, who had just placed her fork down. "It was great" she said with a big smile. She picked her fork up again and continued eating. "Today has been great" mum said happily, chewing her spaghetti. "My engagement ring is found, I couldn't be happier." We all went back to eating dinner in silence again. When both me and Bella were finished, we both, like yesterday went into the living room to watch some TV.

"Can I choose what to watch?" Bella asked as I kept switching through channels. I sighed smiling. "Ok" I said, passing the remote to her. Slowly, she switched between the channels, seeing what was on. She stopped at one channel, a movie was on. "The Ghost next door" she said happily as she placed the remote down beside her. I rolled my eyes, this is my sisters favourite horror movie. It wasn't even scary, and you could see the ending from a mile away. But I decided to watch it with her anyway. About halfway through the movie, I decided to go and put Slappy back into the basement. When I got to the archway of the door. I noticed something strange. Slappy, wasn't on my bed anymore. He was laying on the floor, on his stomach, as if he had been crawling. I walked closer to him and picked him up.

Max must of moved him I thought, shaking my head. I left my room and head down t the basement. I flicked the lights on as I went down the stairs. I placed him gently on the table where I had left him the night before. "Your so weird" I accidently said aloud. I walked back up the stairs, flicked the lights off and went back to the living room to watch the rest of the movie.

It finished at around 9:30pm. We both decided to go to bed, we had school tomorrow. Great. I have to see Charlotte again I may neve know why she is so mean to me and Bella. Anyway, I went into my bedroom and quickly got changed into my pjs. Just as I was about to hop into bed, I stepped on something hard it felt like metal , I looked down at my foot. I took a step back and crouched down and examined it. It looked really complicated, t up and examined it more closely.

"What is this?' I asked aloud, not expecting anyone to answer. I've seen this before I thought. Then I gasped, I realised what it was. "Its a radio controlled motor!"
