After our long trip running away from school, we, as in Kyle and I, found ourselves lying on the top of Kyle's mustang on the hill. I just love it there. The view, the silence, it's just beautifully breathtaking. I could spend days there just staring at the beautiful view, sharing about lives, or maybe trapped in silence.
"Lilly?" Unless when I'm with Kyle. He doesn't seem able to stand silence.
"Yeah, Kyle?"
"Why aren't we together yet?"
"Wow. That was...straight to the point?" I giggled at his question. Didn't mean to be rude but come on it was ridiculous. "You've never brought that up since sophomore year."
"Sorry. I didn't mean to make things awkward."
"Not even close." I said sarcastically while turning my face around avoiding his eyes.
"It's just...do you still...well, you know, like me?"
"Kyle..." I turned my head back to face him. Why would he ask such a thing like it's possible to answer it without being weird.
"I'm serious." Oh God he was dead serious.
"Oh come on. We both know I want you just as much as you want to have sex with me."
"Exactly. Why can't we just be together?"
"I told you I don't want to have sex."
"I'll work on that."
"I don't want to take risks, Kyle. What if your manhood starts itching and you sleep around with random bimbos just to sort your problem out? I surely don't want my boyfriend to do that. And you surely don't want to just not doing it for years."
"What if I can handle it?"
Just like that, my phone went off. Thank you, whoever called me. I love you forever.
I reached for my phone in my jeans pocket and yeah I was right. It was the one that I loved who called me. My dad. Julia must've told him that I ran away. Oh how I love her.
"Hey, dad."
"Ran away from detention?"
"Yeap. You know me."
"Okay. Just making sure. Be home before 6. Mom's coming." See how cool my dad is?
"Okay." I cheered and hung up.
My parents got divorced a couple of years ago. Well, they're still good, you know, hang out, dinner, stuffs like that. I believe they still do have feelings for each others but the thing is they're both too stubborn to confess it. And also, mom has a boyfriend. I couldn't careless about his name. One thing I know, he ruined everything.
"What are you so happy about?" Kyle snapped me out of my trains of thoughts.
"Mom's coming for dinner!" I told him while fist pumping the air.
"Well, that's fun."
"You know what? Come with us tonight."
"No no. It's your family night. I can't ruin it."
"It's that you don't want to ruin it or you have another bimbo to do." I wiggled my eyebrows and he slapped my shoulder playfully.
"Okay, I'll come." He laughed and we decided it was the cue to end the moment.
I jumped to the ground and I felt it again. That pain in my feet. I've been feeling it for a month now. I groaned making Kyle looked at me worried.
"Are you okay?" He asked concerned.
"Yeah, I'm good." I made my way slowly to the passenger seat.
"Is it your knee again?" He asked once he got in. If there's one thing Kyle's good at, is that he's never failed into making me telling him the truth about anything. I just stared down at my feet. "Please, go see the doctor, Lilly."
"No! Don't make me!" And if there's one thing that I hate, it's hospital. I watched my grandfather died there. My one and only grandpa who I grew up with. The one that I love. He had always been with me through my everything even when my parents weren't around. Ever since that day, I told myself not to trust doctor. Ever.
"You should, Lilly. Please. For me? Listen. What happened to your grandfather, I'm sorry. I really am sorry. But is that really the doctor's fault. Even if it is, not every doctor is like him. And you, out of anyone should know that you'd eventually need to see the doctor sooner or later." But again, I hate the fact that Kyle affects me in so many ways. Maybe I'll need to see the doctor. What if these legs will kill me sooner or later? I know I'm over dramatic but what if?
"Okay. I'll think about it. Now, let's go." He smiled and started the engine.
...
"Dad! I'm home!" I shouted.
"Over here!" I heard him shouting back from the kitchen and so I followed his voice.
"Looking good, Mr. Cooper."
"Oh hey, Kyle. And thanks. You're staying for dinner, right?"
"Yeah, dad. He's staying." I answered him for Kyle knowing that he wasn't sure enough about it. But now that I said it, there's no way for him to turn back.
"Good then. I'm making pasta. Hope you guys are okay with it." I chuckled and nodded. I love to see how my dad's going all nervous every time mom's coming. He looks like a teenager meeting his crush's eyes and fall in love all over again like it's his first time.
Trust me. He couldn't really cook. He first learned to cook when my mom first visiting us after their divorce. And in my eyes, it's quiet a romantic way to tell someone you still love him/her and he showed it good.
"What can I help you with, dad?"
"Can you prepare the plates and everything? That'll be really nice. Oh and tell Travis to come out." I nodded and walked to the table with Kyle following me.
"Would you like to help?" I asked while coming for the rack where we kept our plates.
"Sure. Anything for my future wife." He giggled and started helping me with stuffs and setting the plates and forks on the table.
For a boy, he's really good at arranging stuffs, I have to admit. He even set the candles and all.
"I'll go to Travis's room, okay? Make yourself at home." I said to Kyle once we were done. It's not like I have to say it to Kyle again and again. My house is like his second home so it's technically his house too but I just felt like saying it.
"I sure will, due to my need of toilet!" With that, he started running towards the bathroom. I chuckled and ran upstairs to Travis's room and knock on his door.
"Come in!" He shouted over the blaring music. I opened the door and came in to see his cool DJ stuffs. I don't even know what they're called. The only thing I know is that headphone that was wrapping his neck. Or at least I think that's what it's called. I'm pretty sure it is, though.
"New song?" I asked. Travis loves to make music. He found his passion after mom and dad separated. He kind of locked himself in his room every single day and one day, he came to me and asked me to help him to sing a song that he created. And wow, it was amazing. Since then, he always shows me his works.
"Yeah, but it's not quiet finished yet. Anyway, what's up?"
"Mom will be here in a few minutes so get dressed, okay?" He rolled his eyes and I chuckled. He also hated the fact that mom and dad were too stubborn in so many ways. He loves mom and dad really, but we both need them to get together again because we just need mom back in our family and we knew they're still in love. "Don't take too long!" I walked out from Travis's room and went downstairs to wait for mom.
This is going to be a fun night. Just my parents, my brother, my best friend, and I. How can it get anymore perfect?
