Simba strode forward with his mother behind him. He was going to try to apologize to Nala, although he wasn't sure if she would except it or not.

"Remember," Sarabi chided as she swung her head toward Simba with her ears flicking. "Just apologize about what happened yesterday, don't say anything about her father."

"I won't," vowed Simba as he dipped his head and lowered into a crouch. He was hoping after he apologized they could play and then be friends like they were before.

Simba stopped once he saw that Sarafina was grooming Nala on top of a large sunning rock. Sarabi threw him forward into view of Sarafina. "What do you want," Sarafina hissed as she pushed Nala behind her.

"I just wanted to apologize to Nala," Simba stammered as he looked at his paws. He knew he should have been looking in Sarafina's eyes but he just couldn't.

Sarafina was about to shove him away but Nala pushed her way in front of her mother. "Wait mama," she meowed. "I want to talk to Simba alone."

Sarafina looked as if she wanted to argue but Sarabi leaped beside her and soothed her with purrs. She nodded and Simba led Nala over to a large rock that would shelter them from their parents. The last thing that they needed was for their mothers' to overhear.

"What do you want to talk about," asked Nala as she looked into Simba's gleaming eyes.

Simba took in a raspy breath. "I'm really sorry about yesterday. I didn't mean to say anything mean and then you get stuck," he told her from deep inside his heart.

Nala let out a purr. "I forgive you Simba. I know that you didn't mean it," she purred as she rubbed her nose against his cheek. "Friends?"

"Friends," Simba agreed as he reared on his hind legs and tackled her to the ground. Nala laughed and threw him sideways. They giggled as they rolled with their tails and limbs tangled in one glob of cub.

"See Sarafina," pressed Sarabi. "Simba isn't a bad influence. It was just an accident with him and Nala yesterday."

Sarafina sighed and rolled her eyes. "I suppose but that doesn't mean that I don't think he's too much like Mufasa, to rush into things."

"Perhaps," Sarabi murmured thoughtfully. "But that doesn't mean he can't learn. Remember how we were when we were younger?"

Sarafina turned her head away and lashed her tail across Sarabi's muzzle. "That was different. We never got in that much trouble and danger."

Sarabi didn't want to argue anymore. She stretched before yawning and turning back on Sarafina. "Just give them time," she mumbled. "They are still just cubs. They'll learn."

Sarafina huffed. "It can't be soon enough."
