Common Indian girl

I am a common Indian girl.

I don't have the looks of a Greek goddess. I am not blonde, I am not ultra fair and I am not at all size-zero.

I like growing nails. I don't grow them more than half a centimetre.

I do have to go to the washroom after reaching office but only to comb my hair and touch up the kohl, not because I have to 'please' my way to the upper management. I am not a slut.

I like pink colour but don't go all dreamy about it every single time
I see it. My walls are not pink, and neither is my night dress.
I do have sleepers, but not with a furry rabbit sticking out from each one of them.

I like teddy bears, but not enough to hug them to sleep.

When I grew up, I actually grew up. I don't fancy Winnie The Pooh and Hello Kitty stationery anymore.

I have friends; some of them are boys too. I am not sleeping with any, or all, of them and neither are they my Rakhi brothers.

I love my girlfriends a lot and we have sleepovers too, but we are not 'special' to each other. I am not a lesbian, and no, I am not a homophobic either.

I don't have a matching pair of earring for every dress I buy.
I do pay my share of the bill when I am at lunch with my male friends.
I like watching action movies, and I like them not for the ripped bodies of the male stars.
I know how to drive. I drive well and I don't need any help in parking my car.
I don't skip wearing a helmet just because it will spoil my hairstyle.
I do know how to cook, but it is not my duty to cook for my husband. I do it because I love him enough.
I can have black coffee.

I like watching Cricket and Football and you don't have to tell me the terms every time.
I don't play Candy Crush all the time on my cell phone.
I don't have cute pink Bobby pins. Mine are black, and they are meant to be hidden in your hair.
I work out, and not because I have to lose weight.
I like playing combat games. I am not a male trapped inside a female's body.

If I am at an upper position in a company, I have worked days and years on it, and not only 'nights' and 'weekends'.
I like shopping, but it's not the only thing I do.
I don't upload my profile picture with make-up and Saree to garner more likes. It is my profile and I can do whatever I want.
I don't wear suits. I don't hate Indian culture.
I don't wear jeans. I am not a behenji.
I can ride a bike. I am not a tomboy.
I am a working professional. I don't not love my kids.

I am just a common Indian girl.
