<Kaila's bedroom>

I woke up in the morning, ready to go. Somehow I had a ton of energy today, and I'm not going to waste it. I went down to the throne room to see what I should do.

The king was in his throne. He straitened up when he saw me come in. "Kaila! You're sure up early."

"Yeah," I grinned. "I have alot of energy today. What would you like me to do?"

"Today is a big day," announced the King. "We've just captured a recruit from the Sky Army! We're planning to do some tests on him today to try and turn him to our side."

"You can do that? How?" I asked, a little confused. Suddenly I wondered if that's what happened to me. Since I was supposedly on the Sky Army side for a while, I guess maybe the squids had to out me through the same process? And what about Darien? He doesn't look like a squid either...

"We just have to get them to pledge their loyalty. It's not hard to do, you just have to offer them their greatest dream."

"Can I watch?"

"Noooo!" The King said, a little too quickly. "The process is secret, we don't want many people knowing how its done."

"But you just told me!"

"I didn't tell you the half of it!" He said. "The pledge of loyalty is only the beginning."

I stared at him suspiciously. "Whatever. What should I do in the mean time?"

"You should take some time to explore the castle. Maybe if you look around a bit, you'll remember a little more about your life."

I shrugged. "Ok."

The Squid King directed me off down a hallway, and I began to walk. I passed several rooms, each with a wooden sign on the door stating its occupant. I wonder how many people live in the castle? Probably alot.

Finally I came to a large room at the end of the hall. I peered through the window and saw a huge stage and long rows of bleachers. There were some workers on the stage, setting up what looked like sound equipment. I fingered the black streak in my hair, eyeing the microphone that was being placed on stage by another squid. Maybe they would let me have a go?

Without thinking, I opened the door and slipped inside the room.

One of the worker squids looked up from their place on the stage. "Miss, did you not read the sign on the door? We can't allow-" he paused for a second. "Wait... You're Kaila! Kaila Squills!"

"Uhh, yeah?" I said, kind of confused. I remembered what the King had said, about me being famous and all. Was this whole concert thing for me?

"We're setting up for karaoke night here at the palace. Would you mind doing a sound check for us?" Asked another worker, setting down a gigantic speaker.

"Sure," I shrugged, trying to hide the excitement that was growing inside me. "I'd love too."

I helped the workers finish setting up the speakers. Somehow I knew exactly where all the cables went. It was like I had done this before...

A vague memory flashed before my eyes. I was helping set up for a school talent show, then watching the acts go on. But those didnt look like squids in the crowd...

"Earth to Kaila! Hello?"

I shook myself away from the daze. I'm starting to see things...

"Sorry, what?"

"Are you ready to test out the microphones?"

"Oh, yeah." I cautiously stepped up on stage. I don't every remember singing onstage before... Yet I'm suppose to be famous. That's weird...
