Loud pounding at the door forced Grayson's eyes open. A few rays of sunlight peek inside through his shades. Yawning as he stretched, he muttered "Calm down, I'm coming" Grayson took his time, figuring it was just a few of Andy's men. As soon as he opened the door a crack, it was forced wide open and someone pushed Grayson against the wall.
"Yo, how's my favorite of all Andy's many friends?" he grinned, though the man called Brutus had his elbow pressed against Grayson's throat.
"Why you take so long to get back to Andy?" Brutus breathed into his face, squinting at Grayson.
"Hey, times have been hard man, give a guy a break."
"Andy has had enough of your breaks. You're going to see Andy now." Brutus ordered, slowly letting go of Grayson.
"Alright big guy, guess I don't have much of a choice do I?" he chuckled.
Brutus led Grayson throughout the mostly empty streets of the compound in which they lived. The club in their quarantine zone was almost always packed with lots of people trying to forget their troubles. Of course, Andy was the owner of the club and also the local drug dealer. Some things don't change even after the apocalypse. Most of the people were cleared out of the club at that moment. Brutus was the biggest of Andy's men, he didn't need a gun to get the job done unless it was outside of the compound. The rest of Andy's men all stood guard in various places of the club, gripping their weapons tight as they noticed Grayson climbing the staircase to the second floor.
Brutus stood tall, striding up to one of the two upstairs doors. He knocked two times "Sir, Grayson finally got the confidence to come see you."
"Good, good. Send him in." a deep voice responded.
"The big boss will see you now." Brutus nodded to his captive.
"Thanks buddy. I've been trying to get a hold of Andy for hours." Grayson patted Brutus's head as he passed, even though Brutus scowled at him.
"Shut the door behind you." Andy ordered Grayson instantly. "Yes, sir." He responded, even though he was already closing it. "You still owe me a few favors." Andy smiled evilly. He was a darker man that was cocky about everything he did, a man used to getting his way. Grayson rolled his eyes. "How can I forget? What do you need?" Grayson demanded.
"There has been a presence of other survivors in the area that I alone have heard of. The military here, even if they do hear of it, won't take action unless other people actually are seen too close to the compound. I want you to go investigate. You will take quite a few of my men, and you can take your friend Everett too if you please. But this should be a low key mission, investigate the area they were seen in and see if you can find out where they are held up. When you find that out, get back to me." Grayson noticed instantly Andy's use of the word 'when' not 'if'.
"Alright, I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Where are your men waiting?" "Downstairs, now remember...you're not the one in charge of this operation." Andy reminded him. "I know how you operate. Is that all you need?" "Yes, if you find any other survivors, capture them of course. Don't kill unless absolutely necessary." "Of course," "Alright, get out of my office. I have money to count and more operations to keep an eye on."
Shorter chapter, but I'm trying to update at least once a week on either of my stories :)
