You wake up with a start- you had a nightmare. But what was it about? You had forgotten. You put your hand to your cheek to find tears.
Blue... The color blue... That's all you remembered- blue, maybe a bit of red.
You disregarded the dream, as you thought it had been unimportant.
You were wrong.
You got up from the bed, stretched, and walked out of the room.
Heading to the living room, you realize- you can't just stay here. You need to get home, no matter what it takes. Toriel was sitting in a chair, reading about... snails? Frisk was drawing on a small table, humming softly.
You walked up to her and asked a simple question. Though it was simple, it would impact your entire journey.
"Miss Toriel, may I ask how to get home?"
"Home? This IS your home now, child."
No it ISN'T. You sigh, mentally correcting her.
"No, I mean my real home- where Frisk and I were raised. On the surface."
Toriel looked flabbergasted.
"How- what? I-I... I have to go do something."
You watched the lamb stand from her chair, and walk out of the room.
Frisk stood up, holding their artwork in their hand, then walking after Toriel.
"Frisk, where-"
"You're right, (Y/N). We do have to go home. We have to follow her."
You nod, and follow your younger sibling. Through the hallway, and down the stairs, you find a dark corridor.
Even with the lack of light, you can still see Toriel walking down the hall.
Rapid footsteps echo through the cavern, as Frisk begins running, and you follow suite.
"Here lies the exit of the ruins. I am going to destroy it."
"What?! Just so we can't go back home? Just so we won't be able to see our family again?" You know you don't have any good family, besides Frisk, but Toriel doesn't.
"I've watched too many children die! Can you not see? If you leave this place, they, Asgore, will have you killed. I am doing you a favor!" Tears well up in her velvet eyes, as she looks at you in despair.
"A favor?! We need to get though, Toriel. So please just let us!"
Toriel sighed. "Very well. But before I do, you need to prove your stength."
You are surrounded with a dark interface.
"WE DON'T WANT TO FIGHT YOU!"
"FIGHT OR RUN AWAY!"
A swarm of flame surrounds you and Frisk. You look at Toriel in fear. Her eyes say she doesn't want to harm you, but her demeanor wants you to battle.
A fireball hits Frisk, throwing them to the violet floor. You gasp, running over to them.
While helping them to their feet, a fireball zooms towards you and your sibling.
"Just STOP!" You yell, as a purple bubble surrounds you and Frisk. Your right eye shares the aura, an intimidating look finding it's way to your face.
You and Toriel gasp in unison, as Frisk cowers in fear.
"A- a... A sorceress...,"Toriel mutters, just loud enough for you to hear.
"You definitely are strong. Strong enough to defend your sibling. Please, child, do not bring harm to any monsters, but promise to protect them."
"Yes, Miss Toriel," You say, as the purple aura dissolves.
The motherly monster makes her way to you, holding both you and Frisk in a tight hug.
"Stay safe, children." With that, she walks back to her home.
You and Frisk pass through the large door, seeing a much longer corridor. Before that, lays a small golden buttercup. With a fucking face.
"So. You finally-" it pauses, looking at you. "Two? That's new. What, you fall down after they did?"
You nod, hesitantly.
"Of course you did. At least there could be a new story playing out," after that sentence, the flower burrowed underground.
"Wait! What do you mean by 'new story'?"
It was already gone. So much for that.
"Onto a new adventure, right Frisk?"
