"Find the surface area of this figure," Ms. Monkoski instructed the class, drawing a 3-dimensional shape on the board.

Everyone took out their white boards and started working. Alexyss leaned towards Karisa. "Can I borrow your calculator?" she whispered.

"I'm using it too," Karisa replied. "After."

Sasha finished and held her white board up about fifteen seconds before Karisa's. Ryan's came up five seconds after Karisa's, then followed by Shortstacks and Alexyss, with the rest of the class coming at different times.

"Mmm," Ms. Monkoski said while examining the white boards, saying "Correct" and "Nope" throughout the class.

When the time was up, the teacher went back up to the board. "It looks like some of you have forgotten how to do surface area. What is the formula for finding the surface area?"

A student in the front row of the class raised his hand the quickest. Ms. Monkoski gazed around the room, but seeing only a few other than the boy, she sighed and looked at him. "Yes?"

"a = 2(lw) + 2(wh) + 2(lh)," the student answered correctly.

The teacher nodded, and wrote the formula on the board. "a = 2(lw) + 2(wh) + 2(lh)," she said while writing. "To make this easier, remember to make a net of the figure first. Then, as you can see, these two shapes are the same size, these two are the same, and these two are the same. Therefore, using this formula to find the surface area." She started doing the things step by step with the students answering the questions she had asked.

Karisa was on the edge of getting a boredom coma. She couldn't wait for class to be over, but then she would have to go outside into the sun, and she did not like that. She leaned to Alexyss, who was playing with her phone. "What time is it?" she whispered.

Alexyss checked. "10:15."

Karisa widened her eyes in shock. She would have to wait about an hour for class to be over.
