Chapter 8

"Oh, come on, guys," Sasha said, pulling her friends. "Lets go to the splash park!"

School had just finished, and on Wednesdays the group goes to the splash park.

"I need to turn on my phone," Karisa protested.

"I need to put on Panic! At the Disco!" Alexyss agreed.

"I need to call my mom!" said Ryan.

I need to do this, I need to do that, Sasha didn't want to hear it. She wanted to spend as much time as possible at the splash park, particularly because she didn't live in the neighborhood like the rest of her friends did, so her mother would pick her up at some time. She groaned, heaving herself and her backpack onto a bench, fingering notes for the recorder.

When her friends finished, they headed to the splash park.

"There is so much homework!" Ryan complained on the way.

"Really?" Sasha asked. "I finished all of mine in class! The social studies took a bit of time, but I finished it by the end of the day!"

Ryan pretended to cry, running down a finger from his eyes to his chin repeatedly.

When they reached the splash park, Sasha ran, settled her backpack onto a bench, and started goofing off on the playground.

It was going to be a long afternoon...
