When Karisa opened the classroom door on Wednesday, she found many students wearing different outfits.
Oh yeah, she thought. Today is An Ideal Me day.
Sasha was dressed as a student from Hogwarts, Ryan was dressed as a wizard, Alex was dressed as Ryan Ross, and Shortstacks dressed like a chef.
Her friends came up to greet her. "Who do you want to be?" Alex asked.
"Myself," Karisa smiled, and Alex returned it. "You guys want to be wizards, musicians, and chefs?"
"Yup," Sasha replied, waving her wand. "It's the me I want to be, not the one I'm going to be."
"Well, you can be what you want to be," Karisa pointed out. "You can be a witch." Sasha grinned at her words.
"Alright, settle down," Ms. Monkoski announced. "Get in your seats so I can take role and see who is participating in An Ideal Me today."
Karisa wasn't counted for participating, unfortunately, but at least Sasha and Ryan were, though the teacher was hesitant.

"Take out your expository essay draft, which you had for homework." Ms. Monkoski emphasized the word homework, knowing that there are many people who didn't do it and were thinking up some sort of excuse. "We will be going over the rubric and checking if your draft has all of the necessary requirements."
While the class was going over the rubric and self-assessing their drafts, Alex was on his phone hidden beneath his desk.
"What are you looking at?" Karisa leaned in to see.
"Wattpad," her friend replied. He was typing a comment to someone who was reading his book.
Meanwhile, Ryan and Shortstacks were comparing their papers.
"Mine's longer," Ryan boast.
"But mine's better," Cameron stuck up his nose.
Ryan was flustered. "At least mine's actually five full paragraphs long!"
"Shut up," Cameron told him.
Oh, and Sasha was just doing her work. Yeah, she's a bit boring.
"So you should be looking for those specific requirements in your essay," the teacher concluded. "You have the rest of class to create a second draft and make any necessary changes. I expect you to have a new, improved draft by tomorrow, because we will be peer-assessing."

Eventually, all of them except Ryan finished their draft. Ryan didn't want to have it for homework, so he decided to stay in for recess. The other four headed out to the field.
They didn't have piko ball anymore, instead they had playground, which was still OK. Sasha immediately started running around and waving her wand, pretending to be a witch. She was shouting spells and doing weird arm movements, basically she looked crazy.
Laughing at the silliness Sasha was putting in for An Ideal Me day, the others decided to play along. Alex sang songs from the band Panic! At the Disco while playing an imaginary guitar. Shortstacks was making pancakes and imitating movements of a professional chef. Karisa instead pranced and announced "I'm a princess! I'm a princess!" at the top of the playground.
The other students probably thought that they were the most ridiculous people on the planet. But the group didn't care about the popular opinion, they were just having fun.
~~~~~~~~~~~
"Copy down your homework and pack up," Ms. Monkoski announced. The homework was to finish the draft and do a page in the math workbook.
"Wolololololololololololololololololo!" Sasha yelled as she walked out of the classroom.
