Chapter six

After I had explained everything to Em, she was a bit gobsmacked. Okay, scratch that, she was totally gobsmacked. She knew that Vince is 'in love' with me, but she had no idea about the others. Well, of course she had no idea about the others. How could she have known about Josh and Brendan if they've just turned up now?

My phone began ringing, and I sighed before answering it, "Hello?" I never even bothered to check the caller I.D. I never do anyway.

I heard a sigh, "Honey, when are you going to start checking caller I.D?"

Rolling my eye's, I replied, "Sorry Mom."

"It's alright."

"Now, what do you want?" I joked. My family always pretend's to be nasty to each other when in reality, we're only joking.

"Well let's see. I want a Abercrombie and Fitch model as a husband, a yacht, and a free trip to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory," I chuckled as my Mom sounded so serious.

"Hmm, let's see. Nope, your on Santa's naughty list this year, Mom. Sorry."

"Damn it!" My Mom cursed, "Anyways, what I really wanted to say, or ask, was when are you coming up to visit next? Your brother's coming next week, so we thought it would be nice if you came as well and we could be one big happy family."

I groaned internally. Every time I go home and visit my family, I always get compared to my little sister and my older brother. It's not my fault I don't have the perfect grade's they have!

My brother, Max, is a junior in college. We're quite close, but he's very nerdy. When I say nerdy, I don't mean your stereotypical nerd. He is quite popular, and muscly. Just because he has brains doesn't mean he's not popular. He was also a jock in high school. Thus how he managed to make the rest of Brendan's sophomore year a misery. Max is about six feet tall, has a lean body shape, has the same hair and eye colour as me, and has very chiseled face features.

Laurie, my younger sister, is a sophomore in high school. She has the same colour hair, eye's and skin as me and Max. Apparently she remind's everyone of me, by the way she acts and everything. Fortunately for her, she got the same brain's my brother has. Why is it that I am the only person in the family without straight A's? I mean, yes, I am smart, but I usually only get B's. My parent's are always saying thing's like, 'Why can't you be more like your siblings?' but it's not my fault! Unless I just have that middle child syndrome that everyone goes on about.

"Honey? Are you still there?"

Blinking, I remembered that I am still on the phone to my Mom, "Uh, yeah, I'm here."

"Good. So, are you coming down next week then?"

I guess it wouldn't do much harm. Seen as though it will give me some time to think about what the boy's said.

"Sure. Of course I will," I said, sounding glum.

"Alright, see you soon! Love you!" My Mom hung up, and I threw the phone on my bed lazily. I feel exhausted.

Rubbing my eyes, I carried on getting dressed. Me and Emma teach little kid's dance at a dance academy, just around the corner from our apartment. Our love for the activity hasn't disappeared.

Putting on my white sweater over my vest top, I quickly tied my hair up in a bun. Once I was ready, I picked up my cell phone again and went into the living room where Em was waiting.

"I'm ready Em, let's hit the road."

"Hit the road? Your car's broke," She said.

I rolled my eyes, "It was an expression."
