Kurt had been pretending to have questions left to answer for a while. He'd double, triple-checked all his answers. Normally, he would have left the gymnasium the moment he'd finished double-checking his answers, but he could tell by the expression on Sorin's face that he was struggling. Kurt chose to stay in his seat for moral support, regardless whether or not it was all in his head. He glanced up at Sorin to find Sorin was looking at him. Maybe he was truly providing moral support after all.

Sorin's face started to color and he looked back at his test quickly.

Was Sorin doing that poorly on the test? Was he embarrassed because he thought he wouldn't pass? That seemed unlikely after all of Sorin's efforts these last couple months. He'd seemed pretty confident in his knowledge prior to the test.

Was he feeling unwell then? Kurt decided he was glad he'd stayed behind.

When Sorin pushes out of his chair and leaves through the side doors, Kurt leaves too. Unsure why Sorin was heading deeper into the building, Kurt follows. Activities of all types were done for the year. Lockers had been emptied the week before. Kurt supposed Sorin could be going to see a teacher, but Kurt couldn't think of a reason why he'd need to. Sorin had actually finished all his work, and although it was possible he'd failed something, Sorin had been sure that he only needed to pass the graduation exam like everyone else. The way Sorin was hurrying and glancing around him, although clearly not paying attention behind him because he seemed unaware of Kurt's presence, made Kurt feel uneasy and prevented him from calling out to Sorin.

When Sorin disappears into the bathroom, Kurt hesitates. Maybe Sorin just had to use the restroom? And wanted some privacy, so came to this one instead of the one between the gym and the front exit. If that was it, Kurt felt like an intrusive jerk.

Kurt leans against the wall outside the restroom and listens. He hears the metal shink of the bathroom stall lock as it is closed. Thanks to his above average ears, he hears the zrrt sound of a zipper, and then a soft moan.

For a few moments, Kurt thinks Sorin just needed to use the restroom in private. When more quiet sounds meet his ears, Kurt's impression is that Sorin needed privacy because has an upset stomach. Kurt lets himself slide down the wall until he's sitting with his arms draped over his knees. If Sorin was feeling unwell, Kurt would be here to make sure he was okay, to make sure he got back to the Institute okay. But as he sits there listening, he realizes the sounds don't quite match and soon Kurt becomes aware Sorin's not having digestive issues. He's getting off.

What in the world is Sorin thinking? Masturbating in a public space in the middle of the day? Couldn't he wait until he got back to his room? Kurt pivots his arms up so he can cover his reddening face with his hands.

Then the thought occurs to him that maybe the reason Sorin couldn't wait until he got back to the Institute is because Sorin's not alone and someone else is getting him off. That thought brings Kurt back down to reality and he concentrates on listening. All of the soft sounds of pleasure seem like they're coming from Sorin and only Sorin. He is unable to discern noises from another person and decides Sorin is probably alone.
