The First Test

The sun came back up and I was tired of driving. We stopped outside of a rest stop on the side of the road. Whoever had the idea to put an army base this far from the city sucks. Probably just for their safety to be honest. I walked outside the rest for some fresh air. I looked down the road and saw a big lump in the middle. I walked slowly over to it. It was big an seemed to have multiple legs. I pulled my gun out. Then I realized it was that spider I saw at the gas station. Except now it had a bullet in its head. Then I looked up and saw a building way in the distance. I ran into the rest stop.

"Guys!" I yelled.

"What?" Derek asked.

"The army base. Is right down the road." I said. Before I could continue Trinity jumped up and went to run outside.

"Are you serious?" She asked almost out there door. I jumped up and grabbed her shoulder.

"But! I think the guy has a sniper or something." I finished.

"What makes you say that?" She asked. I pointed at the corpse of the spider.

"Okay so what do we do?" Trevor asked.

"I mean if we sneak around we.." I said getting cut off.

"If we sneak we're just asking to get shot. Be confident and walk right up to the door." Derek said.

"I agree with him." Trinity said. I looked at Trevor. He shrugged. Great.

"When do we move?" I asked.

"Now." Trinity said walking outside.

"Can I go to bed first? Please!" I yelled after her.

"Sleep in the truck." She said laughing.

"That's like a minute." I said.

"That's enough." She said getting in the truck. Derek walked by and patted me on the back. Trevor walked by laughing.

"I hate all of you." I said walking to the truck exhausted. When we started pulling up to the army base more dead creatures laid around. We pulled up to the a huge gate. My eyes couldn't help to wander to the sniper tower. We hopped out and went to the gate. There was a speaker on the wall with I sign above it saying

Press me

With an arrow pointing towards a red button. We all kinda looked at eachother. Then Trinity walked up and pressed the button.

"Hello?" Trinity asked

"Who goes there!" Yelled a man from the speaker. He was speaking in a medieval accent.

"We're a group a few hours away. We need supplies." Trinity said.

"I mean you have a big truck. I doubt there's nothing in the back." The man replied southern accent. Me and Trevor tried not to laugh.

"Your right. We do have stuff in the back, but we need something big." Trinity explained.

"Well you guys haven't laughed yet. Which is good, but your gonna have to prove yourself if you want in here." He said very dramatically. Then the gates opened.

"I thought we had to prove our selves." Derek said walking in. All of a sudden the man's voice came on all the speakers around the base.

"You do." His voice echoed. There was a sound of a cage being opened. A mutated Rhino came running out of a hanger. Its horn looked like a huge sword and it had smaller spikes sticking out of its body. We raised our guns and it charged. I learned that it was lot faster then I expected. It would of nailed me to the fence behind me if I wouldn't of rolled out of the way. Trevor screamed and went to run to the truck but the gate was already closed.

"Just kill the thing!" Trinity yelled. The Rhino jumped up and almost crushed Trevor. Derek grabbed him and pulled him out of the way. We all were shooting it but the bullets did nothing. They all lodged into him doing nothing. Then I noticed that in a hanger there were a bunch of weapons.

"Guys!" I yelled running towards them. The Rhino turned and ran at me. I jumped out of the way and it went straight through the hangers walls. The Rhino came running right back at me and I had to move out of the way again. I hurried into the hanger to all the weapons. Automatic Shotguns, a harpoon gun, a RPG, military rifles, and a lot of grenades. I looked behind me and the Rhino was busy messing with everyone else. I picked up the RPG. It was already loaded, so I aimed it at the Rhino. Then instantly put it down. I don't want to kill myself. I picked up a few Shotguns and ran over to everyone tossing them.

"Good choice! For a second I thought you were going to choose the RPG. I wanted something to go boom. It would of been so cool. Anyways those shotguns have armor piercing rounds. I'm pretty sure it can go through that thing." The man on the speaker said laughing. The Rhino charged at me and I rolled and shit it in the side. A large spike feel off and the skin under it looked soft. I tried to shoot at it but it moved out of the way. I think it knows he's in danger. Anytime someone shot it jumped out of the way. It wasn't really trying to kill us anymore but trying not to die. Well, that's what I thought until he swung his horn and smacked Trinity down. The Rhino got ready to charge to finish her off and Derek shot but it hopped out of the way again. Then it tried to charge again. I picked up the spike that fell and ran at it. Right before the Rhino ran across Trin i jumped slamming the spike right where It use to be. It hopped around throwing me off of it. I went flying and landed on my back. I noticed I was bleeding. Maybe jumping right onto him was a bad idea i thought to myself. I chuckled a little and then got back up. I checked where I was bleeding and none of it was very serious. I saw Derek and Trevor shooting the Rhino non stop. Then they both ran out of ammo. The Rhino was still alive just bleeding all over the place. The spike was that far into his body, but there was a lot of blood flowing from it.

"Go for the spike!" I yelled. They ran towards the Rhino and it stared them down. They were playing a deadly staring contest. I saw Trinity still laying on the ground. I ran over and drug her body over to the hanger. I checked for a pulse and she was still breathing. I let out a sigh of relief. I ran over to Derek and Trevor.

"Is she ok?" Trevor asked. Staring at the Rhino.

"Yes. Follow my lead." I said moving closer to the Rhino. It looked at me and thrusted its horn at me. I dodged it and Derek ran around on the other side it jumped around and looked at Derek. I ran towards the spike and it hopped back around. I grabbed on and held. It started trying to throw me off as I pushed the spike in further. Other spikes were pushing into me. I screamed in pain as I kept pushing the spike further into the Rhino's body. All of a sudden the Rhino staggered and started to fall over I jumped off it and collapsed on the ground. I heard the thud of the Rhino's body and smiled. We killed the thing.

"Tyler are you ok?" Derek said running over to me. I rolled over and looked at him.

"Yeah." I said passing out..
