Chapter 9: Please Remember
The Arbiter wakes up in a bar, the Sattleko. She looks around, and she sees that she's lying on the couch that most guests lie on if they're still unconscious as they get there.
The Arbiter sees two boys, one with beach blond hair and sky blue eyes, the other with caramel brown hair and emerald green eyes. They are both talking in hushed voices for some reason.
She holds her hands out in front of her face, inspecting the thin body. The Arbiter backs away from the couch and walks to the bathrooms, where she surprisingly knows where everything is. It's like she's been here before.
The girl gasps at her reflection. She has short blond hair, and she has a braid taking some of the hair and flowing down to her shoulders. Her orange eyes reflect the dim lights, and they stare right back at her. Though she sees that this porcelain face and platinum blond hair is hers, she feels like something is wrong. Like...what is her name?
The blonde walks back out, and she stares at the two boys on the other end of the small bridge across a pond. The boys look to see her, and they exchange glances. "Is that...Kiko?" The blonde asks the other.
The silence is deafening as the girl glances behind her for 'Kiko.' She looks back at this two boys. "I'm not Kiko, if that's who you're looking for," she says quietly. The name just doesn't seem right for her.
The brunet looks away with dismay. "Why does Nona do these things? Kiko just wanted to know what her purpose was," he mumbles.
The blonde stands up and walks towards the red-head. He looks down at her with judging eyes, and he sighs. "What is your name?" He asks.
The Arbiter stares up at him. He's oddly familiar...where do I know him? She asks herself. She stays silent for a while before realizing the question she was asked. My...name...what sounds right? Hope? No. Faith? No. Joy? No. Why do all these words come to my head first? She looks up at the ceiling. Skylynn. She finally thinks, and she nods. "Skylynn," she mumbles, surprised at the softness of her voice.
The tall male squats down in front of her so he's now shorter than her. "Skylynn? Can I call you Sky for short?" He asks politely.
Skylynn's eyes look at him. He's wearing an Arbiter uniform, but he looks nothing like one. His eyes don't have the weird cross in the middle, and he doesn't have that calm aura around him. How strange. Skylynn's mind returns to reality, and she nods. "Of course. May I ask your name?" She asks back.
The male sighs. "I guess you can't remember everything," he mumbles, though Skylynn's can't hear so. "My name is Mitch, and that over there is Jake. We're not Arbiters, like you, but a while ago, we were assigned to be your assistants," his eyes start to water slightly, "and we've been working beneath you since," he finally finishes.
