「4歳 continued

Crayons were scattered and there was a pair timid, doe-eyes strict with concentration. This was their second week attending pre-school, and both the boys absolutely adored coming five days out of the week to spend alone time away from their parents, but not completely alone as they were together with other innocent faces.

It was still something.

Joshua Dun cherished every moment he got, scooting impossibly closer to Tyler, sharing snacks and drinks, making sure Tyler had more of the cookie that he had split in half, or even made sure that Tyler had all the perfectly sharpened crayons, like he did now.

The curly brunet watched happily as he saw Tyler coloring in the generic princess from the coloring book, pink scribbling outside the lines here and there by Tyler's small hand. The younger's tongue was placed between his lips, his eyebrows furrowed, and desperately gripping the crayon to softly fill in the dress.

"You're doin' great, Ty-Ty."

A soft heavenly giggle, something that rang Joshua's heart each time, spilled right through his small ears and made his eyes twinkle with adoration.

"T'ank you, Jishwa."

"Welc'me." Joshua went back to his finger painting, dipping his small fingers in the gooey substance to only splatter it on the white canvas, a huge smile on his face when he stuck his soft pads harshly into it.

They were minding their own business when a harsh voice echoed in their ears, causing both boys to perk up from their art pieces.

"Ugly!" The boy was pointing at Tyler, who's eyes teared up quickly, cowering only slightly, and Joshua automatically frown, wiping his artsy hands against his blue shirt to pull Tyler away from the black haired boy.

"No, he isn't!"

"Two uglies!"

"Shut up!" Joshua yelled, bawling his small fist.

"Make me, ugly!"

"J-Jishwa." Tyler's trembling voice cut through, only making the older, curly haired brunet angrier.

"I said, shut up!"

"Tyler is ugl-" And before the boy could finish his sentence, Joshua was on the boy, rubbing his paint-filled hands on the boys face, smothering it against his cheeks.

"Take it back! Take it back!" Joshua screamed, the black haired boy below him crying from the pain of the weight of him and flushed eyes between them. "Tyler is pretty! He's the prettiest boy I've ever seen!"

And the crying was loud, from them all, to which Mrs. Green quickly aided their side, pulling Joshua off with a huff.

"Boys! Boys! Behave!" She breathed, keeping Joshua away with her hand on his heaving chest. "What happened?!"

"He started it!" Joshua cried, harshly wiping the tears that fell fast from his eyes, cheeks red with disappointment and anger. "He called Tyler ugly! Tyler's pretty!" The curly brunet breathed, pointing at his small friend. "He's pretty!"

"Jish-Jishwa." His voice was squeaky and hesitant, causing Joshua to whip around and hug the boy, cradling Tyler's head close to his neck and running his small fingers through the mocha curls.

"You're safe, m'here. M'sorry, Ty-Ty."

Mrs. Green tsk'd, helping the crying, black haired boy off the purple carpet, dusting his shirt down. "I'm going to call all your mothers about this, but first, Brendon, tell Joshua and Tyler that you're sorry."

Brendon let out a cry, shaking his head as he wiped his eyes harshly. Tyler pressured his face more into Joshua's neck, whimpering when Brendon got louder with his cries.

Mrs. Green sighed, looking to the two brunet's. "Why don't you guys go to the bathroom and get cleaned up, okay?"

Joshua nodded, stray tears falling down his cheeks as he looked down to Tyler. "Let's get cle'ned up, Ty-Ty."

"J-Jishwa." And the smaller boy cuddled to Joshua's side as they walked to the bathroom, pulling him closer and closer, shaking in the older boys arms.

Joshua kissed Tyler's forehead continuously throughout the day until their mothers arrived worried and anxious, to only see Tyler sleeping on Joshua's lap, puffy eyes a light pink and cheeks a beautiful, cherry red.
