I hate taking medicine that doesn't taste good

I'm all for being cured of some disease, but damn, I really despise taking the medications for it.
The process just tastes gross, or feels gross, whatever.
It depends on the medicine.
Also, what do you do with medicine?
It also kind of depends on what the medicine is, but let's take a pill for example:
Do you drink the pill?
Saying "I swallowed the pill" sounds odd, but it's technically the right term to use, right?
The term "taking the pill" is valid too.
It's so weird.
