The next morning, Kylie woke up to Whiskers beside her face yet again, but she didn't smile like her normal self. As she sat up, she realized she was the only one up, so she quickly got dressed and went into the common room.
As she sat in the window seat, she heard footsteps come from the boys dormitory. "You're awake early." Kevin says as he walked over and sat in front of her. Kylie shrugged. "What's wrong?" He asks as he read her expression.
She looked up at him and sighed softly. "It's nothing." She whispered. He quirked a brow. "Kylie, I know you. You can tell me." He whispered, grabbing her hand. She sighed and looked up at him. "You remember me telling you about my past?" She asks. He nodded.
"Yeah, your father abandoned you. Was sent to Azkaban." He whispered. "Part of it is true." She says. He looked up at her and furrowed his brows. "What do you mean?"
"My father went to Azkaban, yes, but he's innocent. He was charged for murder, but it was his best friend who killed them." She explained. "How do you know this?" Kylie sighed. "I was there that night."
Kevin let go of her hand and leaned forward onto his arms. "Who's your dad, Kylie?" He asks. Silence. "Kylie?" He asks. "Kylie isn't my name. My name is Ivory Walburga Black." Kevin was shocked at the new information she had told him. "My father was best friends with the Potter's. He didn't kill them, Peter Pettigrew did. He summoned You-Know-Who." She started.
"At the time, I was five and they were watching after me most days. I was upstairs with Harry, when Lily ran in and stood in front of us. Once he came in, he killed her and went for Harry, but before he did he attacked me and left me there." Kevin sighed and rubbed his hands over his face.
"After it happened, I was on the brink of death when my dad and his friend came and found us. My dad rushed off to find Peter and Remus was there, trying to help me." She continued. "Remus? You mean Professor Lupin?" He asks.
She nodded slowly. "He left though. Never came back, didn't see my dad though, he was arrested that night. The only people I saw was Dumbledore, McGonagall and Hagrid. They took Harry and I, but they took Harry's memory of me away."
"That's why he went after you last night." He says, nodding his head. She nodded and sighed. "I don't like to talk about it. He left me there, to die. Said it was safer being the victim then him saving me." She muttered. "Why?" He asks. Kylie shrugged. "He didn't tell me." She whispered. He nodded.
"So what should I call you now? Kylie or Ivory?" She sighed. "Kylie is my name. Ivory's gone. She's been gone for a very long time." She says. "Are you gonna tell Bree?" He asks. She shook her head. "It's too much. You know how she is. Eventually I will, just not right now."
As they sat quietly, they heard the dorms open and footsteps come down the steps. "Good morning, Kevin, Kylie." Hermione greeted. Kylie smiled. "Good morning to you too, Hermione." She says. Kevin smiled and nodded politely. "We should get to class." Kevin says. Kylie nodded and grabbed her things, before waving to the three.
As they walked to their first class, which evidently was DADA, Kylie stopped outside and gripped her books to her chest. Kevin noticed and quickly stepped towards her. "Kylie?" He says. "Hm." She hummed.
"You can't hide from him forever, just go in there and act like yourself. Act like you don't know him and that he's just a teacher." He says. Kylie glanced up at him and smiled softly. "Thank you, Kevin." She says. He nodded and held his arm out. "Ladies first." He says. She chuckled and walked in, avoiding the front of the class. "Very funny, Kevin." She says and walked towards her seat, which was in the back with Kevin.
