The next day, Kylie sat in the common room catching up on her homework, when Harry, Hermione and Ron came down. "Hey, Kylie." Ron says. "Hello." She says with a small smile. "You want to come with us to see Hagrid? Today was Buckbeak's hearing." Hermione says sadly. "Oh, poor Buckbeak." She starts. They all nod sadly. "Sure, I'll come." She says and sets her things down.

As they made their way down the slope, Kylie listened to them quietly. "I find it astonishing that someone who prides herself on being so logical can be in such denial." Ron says. "Harry. Will you explain to your friend Ronald that he has absolutely no proof whatsoever that my sweet, unassuming cat ate his shabby, decidedly decrepit rat." Hermione says.

Kylie chuckled. "Harry was there! He'll tell you how it was. Go on, Harry, tell her." Ron says. "No, I won't. Know why? Because I don't care about your stupid rat! I don't care about your stupid cat! I've got few other things on my mind right now!" He exclaimed. Kylie sighed and patted the two on the back. "Don't worry, he didn't mean it." She whispered and continued on.

Once they approached the Black Lake, Hagrid stood knee deep in the water, skimming rocks as flagstones across the water. Kylie noticed his eyes. Red with tears. "How'd it go, Hagrid?" Hermione asks. "Buckbeak liked London." He says. "I meant the hearing." She says softly. "Oh. That. Well, I got up an' said my bit -- You know, how Buckbeak was a good Hippogriff an' as long as yeh treated you the same. Then Lucius Malfoy got up an' said his bit -- you know, how Buckbeak was a deadly dangerous beast that no teacher in their righ' mind would expose their students to --" He starts.

"And --?" Kylie asks. Hagrid was silent and slinged another rock into the water. "You mustn't blame yourself, Hagrid." Hermione says. "Draco. It's him the Committee should punish. It's him they should send off to the forest, not Buckbeak." Ron says. "Buckbeak's not going back to the forest --" Hagrid says. "Where's he going, Hagrid?" Kylie asks. "He asked fer the worse, yeh see, Lucius Malfoy did. An' the Committee granted it. Buckbeak's bin sentenced ter death." He says.

Later that night, Kylie found herself unable to sleep, so she got up and walked towards Remus's class. As she knocked, he opened the door and smiled softly and let her in. "Kylie." He greets. "Ivory." She corrects. Remus was taken aback. "Thought you preferred Kylie?" He asks. "Well, yes I do, but when it's just us three it's Ivory." She explained. He nodded and leaned against his desk.

"Can't sleep?" He asks. She shook her head and sat upon one of the desks. "What happened last night?" He asks. Kylie sighed. "Harry found out. He believes what everyone is saying about Dad." She says. He nodded softly. "Remus, he wants to kill him." She says. He sighed heavily. "You want to tell him? Don't you? I can see it in your eyes." He says.

Kylie looked at him and shrugged. "I don't know anymore. If I tell him, he might not believe me, and if he does, I'm afraid he'll hate me." She says. "I wouldn't say he'd hate you." He says. Kylie looked at him and shrugged. "But there's no reason to be upset with your father." He adds. Kylie thought over his words and rubbed her face tiredly. "You're right." She muttered.

After a while of talking about random things, Remus checked the time. "It's late, you should get back. I'll walk you just in case." He says. Kylie nodded and followed him out. Once they reached the corridor, they heard talking and saw a light. Kylie peered around the corner and saw Harry and Snape standing there.

"Why you insolent little --" Snape starts, but Remus cut him off. Kylie walked behind him carefully. "Professor --?" He asks. Snape turned and noticed the two. "Well, well. Lupin. Out for a little walk in the moonlight, are we?" He asks before turning towards Kylie.
