I gave Tiffany directions to Josh's house and immediately start regretting it the minute we pull up to his place. I get out of the car and walk up to the house before knocking on the front door. Peter opens the door and I'm left speechless.
"What are you doing here?" he asks.
"Peter, I'm hungover even worse I drank wine not too long ago but bear with me her. I can't live without you. I need you to come home. I need you to be there for me and you know we can put this behind us like we did sophomore year. Just please, come home." I say as I start tearing up.
He hands me a card. I start to fill with a little bit of anger. "Josh and Heidi want to invite you to their wedding. It's next month. I'll tell you my decision by then. If I don't say anything by that night, it's all over. Our friendship. Our family figure. All of it. Go home." he says.
He closes the door and walks back into the house. I walk over to the car and sit in the passenger side.
"Do you know how to quickly get sober?" I ask Tiffany.
"You'd have to go to the hospital for that. Why?"
"I have a long drive to make and I need to be sober. Just have some hospital hook me up to a banana bag and I'll be fine." I say as Tiffany drives to the nearest E.R.
We wait in the waiting room for a while before being called back. They have me sit on a cold leather bed before sticking a needle into my arm. They then connect the bag to the tube and start to sober me up.
"I forget at times you're a medical major." Tiffany says. "Just like Ben. You guys are so much alike."
"Yeah, but he doesn't know how to keep it in his pants." I say before Tiffany laughs.
"You're fun when you're slightly drunk. Should do this more often."
"The sobering up part or the drunk part." she rolls her eyes. "So, how is everything at the restaurant?"
"Well, all the college students are trying to get laid. What's new though? Van is still an ass and always will be.
Once the bag was empty, they discharged me. Tiffany drove me back to the apartment before I started packing a bag. I sent Beau over with Tiffany. I look up an old friend's new address before heading out to the car. I have an hour drive ahead of me to Buffalo. I show up to my old friend's house. I walk up to the door and try to stay as calm as possible. The pitter patter of the rain keeps me sane.
"Delilah?" her boyfriend, Grant, says.
"Hey, is Ashlynn here?" I ask.
"Yeah she's in the kitchen. Come in." I walk in and I'm some how reminded of how we ended up no longer being best friends.
"He wants to be friends again." I tell my best friend.
"No, trust me. That'll end bad. Once you become friends again. You'll become closer again. Then you'll want to date again and it just won't be anything good." she starts yelling. We're standing out in the courtyard of the school and I feel like there's these upper classmen just waiting and hoping for us two ignorant sophomores to get into a fight.
"Well, maybe it's worth a try."
"No. Don't do it. If you do I won't forgive you and I'll tell you I told you so."
"I guess you're not going to forgive me then."
"So that's it. You're leaving your best friend for your ex."
"Before we started dating, he was my best friend. I could tell him every god damn thing on my mind and he'd listen. Unlike you."
"What makes you think I don't listen?"
